Luciano nervously consulted his phone again as he waited for his mother at her favorite Mediterranean restaurant, well she wasn't late but he was dreading this conversation and only because he knew how wrong he was and how much he had hurt Shea and his brother for that matter.
He heard the hostess greet another guest and then he heard her voice, his mother's voice, so sweet and gentle. She was one of the loveliest souls he'd ever known, next to his nona's, God rest their souls.
He watched the Italian beauty glide towards and growled inwardly at the looks she still received because she was that gorgeous.
Standing to his feet and pulling out her chair, he greeted her with a kiss to both cheeks, waited for her to be seated and then he sat down.
"I ordered you a glass of rosé'" Luciano told his mother. "Grazie mi figlio" she responded with a smile as they continued with their small talk, ordered and then as soon as their food came, his mother spoke to the waiter with all of the authority that comes with being a Don's wife.
"We do not want to be disturbed until I call for you, capire?" She asked. "Si, Mistress Siranni. Capire" he bowed respectfully and stepped away.
Luciano smirked and was proud at the same time. He had the blood of two immensely powerful and smart people running through his veins and his every waking thought was to make them proud of him.
"Luciano, this vendetta that you carry against Jessica, is tearing away bits of your heart and soul. I'm in no way telling you to forget what she did, but instead use it, let the anger make you stronger, but channel it in the appropriate direction.
Shea can give you and your brother a good life and from what I've seen already, she's been doing that by taking care of your home and your bellies.
She was tragically hurt as well, by someone she loved unconditionally and that cagna took advantage of her innocence and used her violently.
She will reveal all when she finds herself in that place, but until then, you are going to have to work extra hard and by that I mean subtly, to gain her heart and her trust.
She still has feelings for you, but you hurt her, badly, and she's not sure of you anymore and the longer it stays like that the stronger her bond will be with your brother and it will disappear with you."
He took the time to digest carefully what his mother had said and she spoke with both wisdom and truth and he knew that if he had any hope of fixing the hurt he'd done to Shea, he would follow her advice to the letter.
Luciano really enjoyed lunch with his mom, even though she blasted him, lovingly of course, and the one thing in his life that he could live without was disappointing his parents and this time he had.
He knew the relationship with Shea and his brother was heating up and he wanted to be a part of it again because she deserved the very best of everything and when he wasn't being a stronzo, he was very romantic and giving of his body and time, just like Lorenzo.
He decided to stop by the local flower shop on his way home, daring his men to say anything, to which they just raised their eyebrows and smiled slightly.
They all had the misfortune of being around Jessica and no one liked her. She acted like everyone was beneath her and then there was Shea.
Every bone in her body was sweet, she always thought of others and every meal they'd had thus far, including breakfast the morning after the club incident, was put together with love.
He didn't want to do the stereotypical thing which was to buy dozens of flowers, but decided that less would be more, according to his mom and for once he would listen.
