The sun was just beginning to rise as Christine made it into her hometown. She was actually making pretty good timing considering she lost her way two times. Looking at her surroundings, she recognized the area of town before continuing. Her home was only a block away. She ran all the way there.
When she finally made it, she opened the door and stumbled in breathlessly.
"Christine!" Her best friend Meg ran to her side after grabbing a glass of water. "Where have you been?!"
Christine downed the whole glass before speaking a word. "Meg... it is so good to see you. Where's dad?"
Her face fell as she told her, "He's at the hospital." Christine trembled. What could've happened? "He had a heart attack yesterday."
"W-what?" Cristine fell to my knees and Meg came down with with her. "Is he okay?"
Meg shook her head sadly. "He's not going to make it."
She sobbed before she ran out the door, keys in hand. Meg followed quickly followed behind. I was stuck in that man's house while father is here dying! Ugh!
She drove as fast as she could to the hospital. The nurse came to her and asked how she could help.
"Room for Gustave Daae, please." Christine said quickly.
Meg seemed to disappear for she was not behind Christine anymore.
"Relation?" She asked. Ugh!
Fresh tears flowed from my eyes as I answered. "Daughter."
The nurse smiled sadly at her and beckoned her to follow.
What Christine saw inside broke her tender heart.

When Erik walked into Christine's room early the next morning he was shocked that she wasn't in bed and she wasn't in her bathroom. Puzzled, he walked to the library. She was sure to be there. He became worried when she saw she was not. After looking in the music room with no success and practically ran to the kitchen. He didn't find her there either. What he did find was a note, in her handwriting.
"Dear Erik,
This is no way to treat a woman you love. I do not know the life you've known but it... This... isn't right. I could not stand it any longer. Please do not come find me. I know that may not effect your decision to do it anyway but please. I solemnly swear I will come to visit and see you again.
Yours truly,
Christine Daae.Erik crumbled the paper and threw it against the wall. He let out an angry growl. How did she even get out?! He then laughed at himself. She's not coming back.

"Daddy," Christine said above a whisper. She walked over to his bedside and sat next to him. She gently took his hand in hers.
"Hey, baby," He replied with that infectious smile. His voice came out quiet and raspy before he cleared his throat. He raised an inquiring brow.
"Where have you been?"Christine shook her head as more tears began to fall. Her voice broke as she spoke. "Daddy... It's been awful."
Gustave Daae wiped the tears from his daughter's face. "What?"
"A man kidnapped me. He made me stay with him with no freedom to do anything. I escaped just last night. I asked him not to come find me but... He won't stop. He will keep coming for me until he has me, I just know it. I'm scared."
Gustave beckoned his baby to come closer. She did so and laid down next to him. "It's okay, baby."
Christine cried into her father's embrace as he cooed quietly in he ear. "I love you, Christine."
"Don't leave me, daddy." Christine cried harder as she shook her head. "I need you."
"I'll always be with you, Angel."
Christine's heart raced as she felt what was going to happen next. "I love you, daddy."
"I..." He struggled to take another breath. "Love you, Christine."
Christine squeezed her eyes shut as she heard his heart monitor make that deafening beep. She cried loudly as she laid her head on his chest. "Daddy!"
Doctors rushed in to... Well, Christine didn't know. He was... gone. And she blamed a certain Erik Destlar. She knows he didn't make her father have that heart attack but he kept her from spending the last few weeks of her father's life with him.
A young woman in nurse's whites pulled Christine away from Gustave and into her embrace. Christine welcomed it gratefully and cried on the poor woman's shoulder. After a minute, or ten, the nurse guided Christine out of the room and into the arms of Mrs. and Miss. Giry.
"He-he's g-gone." Christine sobbed. "What am I going to do? What am I-"
She decided to stop talking and just be held. And soon after, the Girys took their last Daae home.
