Sea of Embarrassment

Scott quietly observed the girl from across the classroom, watching her every move. She sat alone, both elbows on a faded wooden desk. Face drained from any trace of excitement that once resonated there. Her fins dropped lower as she let out a depressed sigh.

Noticing, instructor glances over, faster than you can bat an eye, then focuses back on the rest of the class. He held a long faded teaching stick in his right paw, which probably was used by many generations of other teachers before him. Class felt just the same for most, but not for Scott. 

Scott eagerly looks down to admire a neat folded up piece of paper, letting out a slight chuckle knowing the doors it would possibly open for him and the girl to grow closer.  From behind, what the school calls "Popular girls"- mostly made up of the more "appealing" evolutions of Espeon, Sylveon, Glaceon and Leafeon watched from behind. Scott knew that bothered Vappy the most when they were holding up their phones, decorated with so much jewels and sparkly crap it blinds you. They were just taking selfies as if they didn't have a care in the world. Neither did the instructor really.

Scott stuttered as he opened his mouth to speak.

"I'm giving this one to Vappy." He tattered with the paper a bit in between, and pressed a small heart sticker on the side, perfect for valentines day- but it was still so far ways from here. It seemed as if he was antsy just and couldn't wait. 

 "Hope this makes her better." He concluded it with a lick, hungry to see how she reacted.

"Psst.. Josh! Pass this on. It's for my.." Scott searched desperately for the right words. "...friend, Vappy." Scott turned the opposite direction of the teacher to hold a neatly folded piece of notebook paper in between his delicate fingers. He attempted to slip his way into a conversation. But Josh didn't notice at all.

"Pssst! Josh! Give this to Vappy!"

Scott's patience spiked, and his cheeks almost turned a rosy red. He didn't even know if he was blushing or just purely angry. He hoped Vappy didn't see him this way.

Josh finally seemed to notice. Before grabbing the paper, he fixed the collar of his umber leather jacket. It suited his personality so well, but that was besides the point. He then outstretched his arm to grab the folded paper. Looking at it, he put on a face of amusement, attempting to hide the urge to burst out laughing. But, it quickly flashed on his face before replacing it with a face of confusion.

"W..what's this? When did you learn origami?" Josh added confidently, hoping to steal a couple laughs.

Scott sighed and jerked his arm before placing his paw into a balled wad of a fist. 

"It's for Vappy! Pass it to her!" Scott  concluded the sentence with an aggressive snap of his teeth.

"Ok! Ok! I get it, she's more than just a friend..." Josh dipped his head and raised an eyebrow, ignoring Scott's warning.

Josh couldn't hold it in, and with a flick of his tail, he arose from the chair, placed one blue-jeaned leg high up on the chair, and the other on the wooden desk. He glued that same eyebrow raised look from which he teased Scott with and posed with one hand on his hip. He couldn't wait any longer to say..

"s..She's YOUR GIRLFRIEND!" Josh yelled as if he wanted the whole world to hear.  Not even a second later, the class was bursting with excitement and laughter, hearing the words. It was so petty but they found everything funny. The only ones not joining in were Vappy and Scott. Their faces both flushed in a rosy sea of embarrassment- mainly Scott as he watches the others around them snicker.

An espeon arose from her chair, and picked the letter from Josh's paw as if it was a delicate petal from a flower. Still trying to hold her laughter in, she took a few steps back so her friends could view the letter, and actually believe her. From there, she ripped open the letter, revealing the words hidden inside, began reading the letter aloud. It was a beautiful note, but they didn't see that.
