I wake up, I think. It's too hard to see in my confusion. But I appear to be in a cot, in some sort of hospital. Or an infirmary.
With a startled jolt, I jump up.
BANG!
I collide heads with a nurse. I glance up at the head I had just hit.
"Sorry" I say sheepishly.
My nurse is a tall, blonde kid with long, unruly hair. His mop hangs low and he tilts his head towards me.
"It's no big deal" he laughs calmly. Like a lanky cat he stretches his arms and yawns. "I'm supposed to give you ambrosia but I see you're already fine. Want some food?"
"I-" I don't respond.
"At least you're not screaming your head off or crying. Peaceful sleeping, I suppose. But you'll get them soon. Everyone gets them. Demigod dreams are the worst."
I don't understand what he's talking about. Demigod? Something triggers in my head. An old memory. It's on the tip of my tongue.
"No, you don't understand" i begin " I don't know what you're talking. I'm not a god, or whatever. I don't even know my name. How did I get here?" I start crying silently.
His expression changes, softening " oh don't cry. I know it doesn't make any sense. Let's start from the beginning. My name is Will Solace, son of Apollo. The god " he adds to my perplexed expression.
" I don't remember anything like that"
"Well anyway" he repeats " the gods are from Olympus. The Greek gods. They rule us humans, sorta. Anyway, the demigods are the sons and daughters of a god or goddess and a non god being like a human. Don't worry if you don't get it. It took me ages to get just that."
"Then how did I get here?" I laugh hysterically. Nothing makes sense.
"We don't know. We found you near the border of the camp, slumped over. Man, we thought you were dead."
"So you don't know where I'm from?" I ask, my heart sinking. I thought he knew.
"Naw" he says " I'm sorry" he adds, looking at my crestfallen face "when a demigod is laying outside the camp borders, it means bad with a capital B. The borders are the only things that keep out the creatures that think we'll be good target practice."
"Oh" I say lamely. How can you respond to that?
Will studies me from his mop. " you could possibly be Hermes' kid, although it's hard to tell."
"Wait" I ask quizzically. " you don't know what I am?!"
" it's hard to tell. You haven't shown your powers yet."
"Well the only powers I know are forgetting everything but one name."
"What's that?" Will stares intently at me. Anticipation in his voice, anxiety in his eyes.
"Percy Jackson" I recite as it replays over and over in my brain.
"Oh My Gods," he breathes" We have to see Chiron. He might know what's going on."And that, my friends, is where the chapter ends. Will the girl find her memories or will she be kept in the dark? Please tell me if you do not like a particular way I write in a comment, so I can make my story better. Tell me what you think so far of the story.
