After a month of dating, they finally broke up and it all unfolded right in front of Lyra's eyes. In her opinion, they had been together for way too long anyways.
"I thought this could have gone for long but I should have known better." Jace spoke angrily, his words echoing throughout the room.
"I did not cheat on you." She replied, her voice cracking a little.
"And I should believe you? Tyron boasted about it in the locker room - I should have known better than to date a slut. It all bounced back on me." He argued while Lyra stood in silence - his words reminding her of all the hushed rumors she heard.
It shot right through her core. Jace had given her so much hope ; hope that this relationship could work out for the better and it all disintegrated because of a lie he chose to believe. For the first time, she thought that someone saw her more than just a slut but it boiled down to the same old accusation : she must have cheated because she was a slut.
Scarlet kept her tears at bay - in no way was she going to cry in front of this bumbling idiot.
"Believe what you must. After all, you've gotten accustomed to this black blindfold."She replied icily , walking away from yet another failed relationship.
Scarlet spoke to herself in hushed whispers,"Why did I pin myself to the hope that this might be different?"
