THE FIRST MEETING

It was a sunny and beautiful day at Kingstone High, typical highschool. Children were laughing and gossiping in the hallway, lockers banging, and teachers scolding students that would still create annoying noises.

"Welcome to the Jungle!" a girl approached Lexie. What the hell is this place she thought.

"I-i'm new here, would you mind taking me to Room 306?" Lexie replied.

"Oh, Englishera ka pala. Wow, imported to!" the girl smiled. Although Lexie hadn't understood what does the girl mean.

"Excuse me?" Lexie replied.

"Welcome to Kingstone High, it's a mixed school, ya know. Most people here are from the Philippines, others are from China, some are from America. And by the way, what country did you came from?" she asked. Is she asking me, Lexie thought.

"I'm from the London." Lexie replied.

"Oh, London. But you don't have an accent." the girl asked. Yeah, people teased Lexie at their crib. How does she maintain a primitive accent, an American accent. They're quite unfriendly, Lexie thought.

"I don't know."

"I'm Coleen Cruz. How 'bout you?" she asked.

"I'm Lexie Ann Adams. Uh, the Room 306?" Lexie reminded the girl Coleen her favor.

"Oh, we have the same class. I'm also from 1st year C. Let's go!"

-----

"Hey, I have my own seat beside my sister so you go find yourself yours." she smiled. Sister, it's impossible to have a sister as your classmate?! Ugh, this is going to be a tough day, Lexie thought.

She sat at the rightmost wing chair. She hoped her seatmate would be nice and friendly.

"Hello students!" the teacher arrived and all of the students stood except for her.

"Why aren't you standing Ms. Adams?" her teacher asked her.

"Uhm, do I suppose to stand up? In London, we need not to stand up." she replied.

"Ang hangin naman nung girl na yun?"

"Oo nga sis, she is so mayabang kaya?"

Whatever are they murmuring, she doesn't really know.

"Ok, so much for an introduction let's proceed to our first lectu--" the teacher stopped.

"Mr. Lorenzo! Why are you late?" her teacher asked a guy. Not just a guy, Lexie thought. A handsome and cool dude is leaning on the door. Her heart skipped a beat.

"Uhm, sorry po Ma'am. Just ran some errands." The guy brushed his loose bangs on his face. Lexie could just watch him all day doing that.

"Go sit beside Ms. Adams!" her teacher commanded.

Oh no, does my hair fix?! Am I having an oily face?! Is my lips dry?! Lexie immediately fixed herself. She doesn't want Renz seeing her duckling side.

"Hey," Lexie greeted him. I just greet him. First move accomplished, Lexie thought.

"Hello. Kamusta ka?" the guy replied. Do they really have to speak Indonesian here?! She thought.

"Are you Indonesian?" She asked.

"Oh, my apologies. I'm a FilAm. Filipino American boy! I'm Renz by the way." Renz asked her hand for a handshake but Lexie hesitated to reach it not because she is shy but because she doesn't knew if her hands are clean.

"Lexie here." Finally, I accepted his soft hand, she thought.

"So," Lexie started the conversation. "Most of the kids here are Filipinos?" She asked.

"Yeah. Are you from London coz your hair is blonde." Renz asked. Finally, someone noticed her, she sighed a relief.

"Yeah. We just moved here in the Philippines." Oh gosh, it feels great to talk to a cutie, she thought.

"As I was sating, your seatmates will be your permanent Lab Partner and your tutor buddy!" the teacher said.

Oh great, spending time with him makes my heart do some push-ups. How about spending A LOT of time with him? Tell me I'm not blushing, she thought.

"So," Renz declared. "Wanna go out after class? I'll show you Philippine Culture if you want?" Is he asking me for a date? Well, my heart is always open for cuties like him, she thought.

"Oh sure." Lexie kept smiling.

And that's the first meeting she never thought would ruin her life badly.
