Alex's Point of View
"Everyone, listen here," Chuck calls attention to himself. "We'll hit the farm a couple miles away and the small shops near it."
"Who's going where?" Rick asked interested in Chuck's plan and the safety of his group.
Chuck points towards his map of the area sprawled out onto a Dodge Ram 2500, "Abraham and China Boy will take the farm and you and that redneck over there will take the shops. The rest of us will travel further down town. Make sure to stay off the main roads. Wouldn't want to run into any strangers or walkers, would you?"
Rick takes a second glance ay the map, "No, can't take any chances with people these..." A lot of ruckus was being made in the back of the crowd of men so Rick turned and observed. It was Glenn.
"Not that it's important or anything but," he nervously scratches the back of his head, "But. Uh. I'm actually Korean." I smile behind my hand at Glenn's strong need to correct Chuck. Actually, I think it was so damn funny that I could laugh about it for years, although I have better and more important things to get to.
"Hey, Chuck," I announce as all eyes turn to me, "How about I help you guys out? I'm really quick on my feet." The vile man turns to look at me and chuckles to himself and glares to his goons. I can feel the temperature of my cheeks rise to a million degrees. Out of nervous habit I start digging a hole in the ground. The short, dilapidated heel of my right boot drills deeper and deeper into Earth's dry crust.
"Sweetheart, of course you can come along," he smirks at me with his weathered teeth.
"Great," I spat out, slightly disgusted by the yellow tint to Chuck's smile. I turn to Daryl excitedly and try to communicate through eye contact. I hope Dixon and I get time to talk, I hope as I stare deeper into Daryl's blue eyes.
"On one condition," Chuck interrupts my thoughts,"You're gonna travel with me." My eager expression turns to one of a more frustrated nature. Quickly and secretly, I glance back to Daryl in hopes that for the thousandth time he'd be my redneck savior. As if he'd read my mind, Daryl bursts forward to the front of the small crowd and attacks Chuck.
The knuckles of Daryl's right hand make contact with Chuck's face. A shocked and hurt Chuck falls backwards onto the ground. Nothing but rocks and dirt are there to break his fall. I can practically feel the steam emanating from Chuck's body. He yells angered and loud, "You son of a #$@&$!"
Daryl stops him before he can say more, "No, ye' listen to me ye' filthy piece of C$@#! Ye're gonna keep your hands off my woman!" Everyone is looking at either Daryl or I now. All I can say is that this conversation escalated quickly. Embarrassed at all the eyes focused on me I scurried off back to the trailer I shared with Daryl.
You're half way there, I tell myself as I walk farther and farther away from Chuck and all of the conflict. It seems as if I have bigger problems that just walkers in this world. I still have to deal with embarrassment, horrible people, and failed attempts at attempting to like someone. Just as I thought I was far enough away from everyone and everything that I hate at the moment I hear footsteps trailing behind me. They get louder and louder until they stop and a firm hand is placed on my shoulder. "What do you want, Daryl?" I ask, not turning to look him in the eyes.
"Where ye' goin'? Is it because I of... Ye' know. Well, I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I guess it just... Slipped out," he tells me as he holds me in place. I really have the urge to turn around and just tell Daryl why I ran away from the scene. I was tempted to turn around and kiss him. I was tempted to tell him how I really feel. But, expressing my feelings isn't worth losing a friend that has been with me more than anyone ever has.
"Daryl, I..." I try to explain what's going on at the moment but there is nothing that can express the extent of suffering I am going through. Instead I unclip the golden locket I'd taken from a shopping place all those weeks ago. "Here, this is what you mean to me."
Okay, this chapter may or may not make sense. However, this is a something I love to do. So, here is a chapter after a million years of silence. Hope you enjoyed! Don't forget to comment, vote, and share with all Daryl Dixon or Norman Reedus fans.
