A/N: Guess what, y'all... There are 2 chapters left! :O
Also, don't be afraid to speak up and let me know if there was anything that didn't make sense or that you'd like me to add to Forgotten. I'd eventually like to publish this story as well, but this one will take a lot more work than Unbroken to fix.
Enjoy!
Tucker:
She was gone. I could sense that before we even entered the house. Curt's scent was everywhere. How the hell had he gotten into the house? We moved silently through each room, checking for any clues.
Mr. Drake raced down to the 'dungeon', barking orders as he went. By the time he had returned above stairs, we were sure that Alex was gone. Mr. Drake's face was so red that I thought he'd catch fire. "The kid is dead. How the fuck did that fucker get into my house, kidnap one person and kill another person, without a single person being alerted on the inside?"
I scratched at my hip, trying to figure out how we were going to find Lexi now. I didn't care that the kid was dead. He was a jackass anyways. I paced over the hardwood in the family room, trying to think. My hip burned slightly, making me scratch at it again before I had a thought.
"The mark!" The guys all turned to look at me, with Paris rubbing at his hip as well.
"This one?" Cedric questioned, placing a finger over his.
I nodded, rushing to explain. "I've noticed that when one of us rubs at the mark, she almost always rubs at her own, like it's bothering her or something. What if we were able to track her through it?"
Paris sat up, head bobbing up and down like a bobble head as he thought about it. "How would we track her through it?"
Rylan glanced at us with a thoughtful look. "We can see if my dad knows. He has one."
"He does?" Kane questioned, clinking his tongue piercing against his teeth.
Paris nodded, rushing off to go speak to his dad. When he came back, Rylan looked relieved. "Let's go. My dad is rounding up a patrol team, and then he'll follow us."
We rushed out of the house, slamming the back door behind us. "What do we do?" I inquired, hoping that it was something easy.
"Shift, Tuck," he commanded, focusing on me.
Out of habit, I shifted immediately, not stopping to ask questions. "Now what?" Cedric questioned.
"Now, he concentrates on the mark. Think about Lexi. Anything?" His bright blue eyes watched me carefully.
I started to respond with a negative when I turned, sniffing the air. I wasn't sure why, but I wanted to head through the forest. I whined, waiting for the others to shift as well. I had her. Well, I hoped what I was feeling was her. It was almost like an invisible thread was pulling me towards the trees, telling me that Lexi was still alive but needed our help.
The others shifted and waited for me to show them the way. I raced around trees and bushes, jumping over a couple of fallen logs. I didn't have to look behind me to know that the others were following close behind me. I was surprised when the thread led us to a small cottage surrounded by trees. The whole place looked run down. A shed at the back of the house was guarded. The men standing there looked bored, and I wondered how long they'd been standing there. Is that where they were keeping Lexi? I glanced at Kane and then Rylan. Go, Kane. Let us know where she's at.
We didn't use mind speak very often, but in this case, I thought it was necessary. When Rylan didn't argue with me, Kane darted off, keeping to the shadows. He was the quietest out of the five of us and moved light on his feet. One of the guards tilted their head, as if listening to the surrounding sounds, and Kane paused. When the man went back to talking quietly with one of the other men Kane started moving again. He was able to look through most of the windows, but we couldn't see in the shed.
