Alex:

As I followed Cedric through the halls to the cafeteria, I started to suspect I was coming down with something. I kept alternating between being too warm and too cold. I had started feeling a little nauseated during my last class, and I constantly felt that something kept brushing against my skin. Right now, I felt so warm that I desperately wished I could just strip my clothes off and run around naked, but that would be improper, right?

I shuddered and Cedric cast me a concern look for what felt like the thousandth time since the lunch bell had rung. "Are you sure you're alright?" he asked gruffly.

I smiled tightly and nodded. I itched everywhere and felt like I was seconds away from a panic attack. I shivered again and Cedric looked back at me again. We weren't even touching, so I wasn't sure how he knew whenever I'd shiver.

We finally stopped at the table we had sat at yesterday and Cedric quickly murmured, "She's broken. Fix her, Ry," as he plopped down into his seat and dropped his bag next to his chair.

Rylan frowned, "She was just fine earlier... What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I'm fine." I replied, trying to keep my teeth from chattering and giving me away.

Cedric glared at me. "You aren't fine." He shot back.

"I am too." I replied childishly.

Paris appeared out of nowhere. Apparently he'd heard what we were talking about because he gently touched his palm to my forehead before I could stop him. "Ry? She's burning up. I can feel the heat radiating off her skin without even touching her..." he trailed off.

Kane appeared behind Paris and started to pull out a chair, "What's going on?" he asked.

Rylan barely glanced in his direction as he replied, "Lexi isn't feeling well."

I glared at him, "I'm fine." I repeated.

Rylan glared back, "No. You're being stubborn. You're practically shaking. That isn't 'fine'. We're going to the office."

I frowned. "I'll be f-fine."

Rylan didn't bother to respond, he simply spun me around and started to lead me to the office. I closed my eyes as the world spun with him. "We're taking you to the school nurse."

He told the others to stay put as he walked slowly with me back through the crowded cafeteria and through the hallways until we reached the office. By that point, I had stopped having hot flashes and shivering. "I feel fine, now. See, it was pointless to come all the way here."

Rylan shook his head. "Humor me, Lexi. We're going to have the nurse check you out. If she says you're fine, we'll go back to the cafeteria."

I sighed and nodded, "I'm alright."

He smiled triumphantly and stepped into the nurse's room, which was right next to the office.

An older lady sat at a computer, typing quickly. She glanced up as we stepped into the room. "Just a second, Loves." She quickly finished what she was doing and stood up. "What can I help you with?" She looked at me and then at Rylan as if trying to figure out which one of us was there to see her.

"Rylan insisted I come to see you, but I don't want to waste your time. I feel fine now." I explained.

Rylan clicked his tongue and shook his head, "She was really warm and sweating and then she got really bad chills, and all she did was walk to the cafeteria."
