"And now I'm holdin' what I never knew I always wanted. I couldn't see; I was blind 'til my eyes were opened, I didn't know there was a hole, something missing in my soul, 'til you filled it up, oh, with your love."
Leigh-Anne's P.O.V
I had finally finished feeding Grace for the fifth time today, and she was fast asleep against my chest as I rocked her slowly trying to keep her asleep. She sure was a handful, I'll say, but she was the best thing that has ever happened to me. From the second Harry and I found out that we were having a baby, I knew our lives would change for the better.
Just bringing her home just a week ago, I was still a little new to waking up every two hours to feed and change her. Yet sometimes, she just wanted to be held. "Mommy's really tired baby." I whisper as I continue to rock her. Her face scrunched together as she let out a tiny whine. "Okay darling, shh, I'm sorry." I coo bringing her closer to my face, feeling her snuggle into my neck a little. I feel her tiny puffs of breath on my skin slow down and it let me know she was relaxing. I press a kiss to her tiny forehead making sure I kept the chair rocking so she would stay this content.
"Gorgeous, do you want me to take her for a while?" I heard a low rumble coming from the door of Grace's room. It was Harry, of course it would be Harry, he's been really concerned recently giving the circumstances although he's always so sweet and caring. "No baby, it's fine, she almost asleep-" I whisper feeling her wiggle in my arms. Her cry rang out loud as ever and I swear my heart shattered into a million pieces. "Jesus Christ." I sigh standing from the chair.
"Leigh, I know you want to do everything you can for her, even all the morning feeds and things but darling you need rest." Harry said sweetly rubbing my back soothingly. He knew how exhausting having a new born baby could be for a mother, especially ones like myself who are breast-feeding. "It's not about that Harry, it's about me being a good mother to our daughter," I whisper finally calming Grace down again, she must've wanted me to stand up. "You resting won't make you a bad mother my love." he hummed wrapping his arms around my waist and placing his chin on top of my head. "Just, hand her to me." he whispers and presses a kiss to my forehead extending his arms out for our tiny little baby girl.
He was right, I did need rest, and who's better to look after my baby than her father? "You're right handsome, thank you." I smile adjusting Grace to pass her to Harry smoothly so she didn't start yelling again. "Of course." he smiled leaning down and pressing a kiss to my lips. I slowly creep out of Grace's room, waiting for my head to hit my pillow. I finally step into Harry and I's room shuffling to our bed and throwing my lifeless body onto it. I sigh feeling my acing limbs sink into the soft mattress.
My eyes had finally fluttered shut when I heard Harry's voice on the baby monitor, he was talking to Grace. "Hello darling." he giggled, I could hear his smile through the tiny speaker. "You've made mommy really tired ya know, so daddy had to step in so mommy could rest up." he said softly. There was no way I could sleep with the man I love so much being the one thing he's always wanted to be, a father.
Becoming a father was something Harry was destined to be, he fit the role perfectly. I'm sure he was more excited than me about Grace, although I was very happy about having a baby Harry's happiness was on another level. He'd always ask me before Grace was born who she would look like more, me or him. Or he'd ask if she'd be a daddy or mommy's girl, and surly she'll be a daddy's girl, she had Harry wrapped around her tiny finger ever since we found out she was in fact a girl.
"You're just so pretty, aren't you sweetheart? Just like mommy. My two beautiful girls." he whispered. My heart swelled with happiness listening to him talk to our baby, I could picture the sweet smile that was most likely spread across his face while his dimple pressed tightly into his cheek. That same smile that had developed across his face the day I found out we were having a baby, and that same tooth exposing smile on his face when we told his mom about our blessing. "I couldn't wait to meet you Grace, and now that you're here, I have no reason in the world to be upset or sad because I have you and mommy in my life," he hummed, probably rocking her softly in his big arms.
Harry would always speak to my belly while I was pregnant, every morning and every night without a fail. He'd sing as well sometimes, maybe a new song he was working on with the boys or some older songs. The usual was 'Isn't She Lovely' by Stevie Wonder, it seemed to be her favorite because she'd flail and kick every time he sang it.
"You know when you were in mommy's tummy, you liked when I sang to you." he giggled. "Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful?" he sang as the static filled monitor picked up his raspy night time voice. He loved singing to her, and as far as I'm sure, she loved it just as much. I slid out of the bed and had my feet lead me back to Grace's room. I stood outside the door, listening to him continue to sing softly. "I never thought through love we'd be, making one as lovely as she but isn't she lovely made from love."
"You're so great with her." I whisper leaning against the pink door frame of Grace's room. "I can't believe I've been so lucky to give our children a father like you Harry." I add. He must have not noticed me standing there because when I spoke he twitched a little. "You should be asleep, my love." he smiled, his vibrant green eyes meeting mine. "I couldn't." I laugh softly walking towards Harry and Grace who was sound asleep against Harry's bare chest. "I was eavesdropping." I confess running my fingers through his now short hair.
"Were you now?" he smirked looking up at me. "Seriously Harry, you're amazing." I say pressing a light kiss to his head. "I could never compare to you though Leigh, you're up with her everyday and every night. It's the least I can do." he smiled down at Grace, pressing his lips to her forehead. "I'm proud to be this beautiful little girl's father, and your husband Leigh. I'd do anything for the two of you, but I'm sure you knew that." he smiled, and I did know that, of course I did. Every single thing Harry did was for me, and now for me as well as Grace.
"She's so tiny in your arms." I gush looking at the two most important people in my life. I loved watching Harry hold Grace and feed her and just love her, it was so amazing and I fell more in love with him because of it. I always thought I couldn't love Harry as much as I did before Grace but he's made my heart fill with endless love seeing his face light up just with her name rolling off his tongue. "I know, I never want her to get older though. No boyfriends, or boys in general, nu-uh none." he giggled placing Grace on is thighs with his hands supporting her fragile head.
I sit in front of the rocking chair with my legs crossed admiring the man I loved be an amazing father and husband. "What are you staring at my love?" he asked looking down at me with the sweetest smile, dimples again pressing deep into his tan cheeks. "You, and Grace." I whisper. "I just want to look at the two of you." I add feeling my smile spread widely across my face. "I love you." he said. "I love you for being amazing, and for giving me this beautiful gift. You'll never know how much I love the two of you." he expressed. I felt the emotion in his voice and it pulled the water from my eyes.
I feel the tear slide down my cheek trying to think of something beautiful to say back, but I was speechless. "I love you so much." I cry wiping the tears off of my face. "Don't cry gorgeous." he whispered standing from the chair and walking towards Grace's crib. He placed her lightly on the soft mattress making sure he pressed a kiss to her tiny head. "Come here." he whispered again, opening his arms for me. I stand from the floor and fall in his arms. "Look at me." he spoke softly as he wrapped his arms tightly around my waist.
"Kiss me." he said again leaning down to my face with me raising up to feel his lips catch mine. His grip tightened around me as his lips pressed hard to mine. "You don't need to cry baby." he said after his lips detached from mine. "You made me." I giggle looking up at him. "I love you Harry, and I love our little family." I add snuggling into his hard chest. His lips pressed to my head in a quick peck. "I love you too. My beautiful girls." he whispered.
"We should get sleep, while she's content." I whisper pulling away from Harry's warm body. "Will you let me be the little spoon?" he joked as I pulled him out of Grace's room and through the hall to our room. "As long as you make breakfast for us in a little while." I bargain feeling the vibration of his deep laugh explode from his throat. "Of course my love. Goodnight."
