So Close,yet So Far

What did I do?

Today was the fist day. I'll admit,I'm not such a big fan of little kids but since Pandora was there,  I was ready to deal with kids for any amount of time. They showed us very let's just say warm welcomes. "Oh look! It's Pan!" Pan? Oh they mean Pandora. "Pan,is this your boyfriend? You promised me you would marry me!" "Um, I'm not her boyfriend..." I said. "Even if you were, Pan is mine! I would steal her away!" Pandora giggled. "Of course you would, Flynn. " She said ruffling his hair. He gave her a wide smile and stuck his tongue out at me. How old was this brat? I was already so annoyed and we were just at the entrance. We walked in. All the kids immediately jumped on Pandora enveloping her in hugs. "Pan!" "Pan nee!" "Pandora!" "Nana! "I heard a whole compilation of nicknames for her. She was quite loved by these little brats. Suddenly she introduced me. "Wait guys, there is someone I need you to meet. This is Kurt." She pointed at me." He is gonna help me take care of you. Be nice to him okay?" There was a chorus okay. A few girls ran up to me and said," Kurt, can we call you K?" "Y-Yeah. That's not a problem." "Yay! It's K!" They seemed happy. Well then, let's get to our jobs. We helped clean up the place and taught the children English and a little Japanese since I had an interest and knew a little. We danced and sang and played a lot. By the time we knew it the day was over and the sun was setting. "That's all for today. We will come after school tomorrow too. Bye bye!" We bid our farewells and walked back home. "They are nice kids,aren't they?" "Yeah they sure are." I couldn't find any other answer to such a question. She looked so happy with them. I wondered if that was how she would be like if we ever got kids?  Wait what am i thinking?! Anyways, we went everyday for a week after school and soon enough the last day had come. We danced and sung songs. We taught them maths today and before we left they all came up to us and said," K,Pan, cam we ask you two favours?" We looked at each other and replied," Of course. What is it?" "Can we take a picture?" Oh it was so simple. "Yeah, let's! Everybody sit down! Pandora and I will stand." They all posed with wide grins and peace signs. Seeing them smile, we both laughed and the picture got taken( see the media). It was a beautiful one. "What was the other favour?" She asked. "Well you and K are so close, so we figured you guys should dance together." "We danced with you guys didn't we?" I questioned.  "We mean a proper couple dance!" They screamed. Wait what? "Why should we do that!" We both asked. They immediately split into two groups,the guys and the girls. They girls ushered me away and asked me to lend a ear and it looks like they did the same with Pandora. They told me," You like Pan don't you? " "No I don't! She's just a very good friend!" I retorted. "K, we know you do. Besides she likes you too." I went along with them." Really? You think so?" They nodded. "So K, isn't this the perfect chance to get in some action and prove to her you are a man? We girls love it when a guy is good at dancing. "It seemed legit. I turned back and there she was. She seemed shy and looked down,her cheeks slightly red. "They won't let us off the hook until we do dance so why don't we just do it Kurt?" I nodded and stepped closer. The kids put on the music.
When your legs don't work like they used to before and I can't sweep you off of your feet.
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?
Thinking out loud. So nice. We swayed along slowly, she didn't look me in the eye till we reached the chorus.
So honey now take me into your loving arms,kiss me under the light of a thousand stars.
Place your head on my beating heart.
I'm thinking out loud maybe we found live right where we are.
She looked at me. "Isn't that enough? " I asked. " Let's go on. I like this. It feels warm and comfortable." She replied. I didn't object. Warm and comfortable huh? We danced on and on till the song was over. As it was about to get over she looked at me, I looked at her. I wanted to kiss her so badly. I couldn't stop myself. I leaned in a little bit at a time. She was surprised and didn't move. I went on. When we were about a centimetre apart, I stopped and opened my eyes. She was there. She had closed her eyes and turned her head. I left her quickly. I grabbed my bag and ran out. She ran behind me screaming my name. What had I done? I let my emotions get the better of me. How could I?  I can't even face Pandora now. I ran on and on till my house and locked myself in my room. How I wish I had refused to dance.
