Why Run?

Chapter 9

I woke up to a sudden chill. It was still dark outside. I sniffed the fresh forest air, taking a deep breath in and out. Wait. I can smell someone. I think it is outside my cave, I hope. I looked outside. Pure darkness folded the forest. I stood up. Trying to walk in stealth so they couldn't hear me.

Too late, I stepped on a leaf. I could then hear it coming closer, it's feet pounding against the dead leaves and grass. I slipped in my dark corner again and closed my eyes waiting for them to capture me.

I shadowy figure stood outside my cave. Oh no, is it Maggie trying to capture me? Then a flashback of the dream engulfed my mind.

This is the night. This is the night in which me and willow get captured. I can feel it rushing through my head. It's vivid.

Willow walked in. 'Im so relieved it's you,' she sat down next to me. 'Same here.' She took deep breaths like she was just running. 'We have to stay in here.' I said 'why?' She asked me 'my dream, it's happening tonight, I can feel it.' She rolled her eyes, or at least I think she did, from this low light.

She changed into her wolf and we huddled. 'So why are you here? Isn't your dad worried?' She sighed. 'I woke up to find he was gone, the first thing that popped in my mind was you.' She shifted her ears around, flicking them behind her head. Her tail thumping against the cave floor.

We both sniffed the air. I could smell someone else, and I think willow did too. There was no way to escape this, soon to be living nightmare, we had to face it by ourselves.

I thought about the dream hard. I thought about how we got tossed in sacks then thrown in a truck.

I never wanted this to happen. 'When we see a cloud of dust, we have to stick together, don't wonder off, or they might get you.' She looked down.

We kept huddled together. My mind racing. I don't know what happened before the cloud of dust and I don't know what happens after the truck ride, all I need to know is that me and willow get captured.
