September 5, 2016 was possibly my biggest fear in living form, even when it finally arrived. You'd think I would have stopped faking sick when I turned twelve, but I still did it to try to get out of school about four years later. It didn't work, obviously. However, that's when I kind of had my own, pubescent version of an epiphany. Girls like Alexis Bradley and boys like Matthew Song are only a threat if I let them be, or at least that's what I thought. Entering the school, I had this new sense of confidence that seemed to be lacking throughout my whole underclassmen experience. I looked around at my surroundings, seeing what I had to take on, and it didn't look that bad! A little scary, but overall, not as frightening as I made it out to be.

The first thing I noticed was that besides her boy toy and her dealer, Alexis Bradley seemed to have gotten a new backup crew this year. Last year and the year before, Alexis had two girls. One was a girl with chocolate-colored skin, big eyes that were almost a black shade, and dreadlocks neatly placed in a side ponytail. She always spoke like Minnie Mouse on her menstrual cycle, her high-pitched voice often used to give incredibly witty side comments to Alexis' insults such as "Yeah!" "Totally!" and the most famous one, "Loser!" As you can tell, she didn't quite have a mind of her own, leading to Alexis' nickname for her "Bimbo". I'm just going to leave that out in the open. Her actual name was Aaliyah Young, but nobody knows her as that anymore, poor girl. The other girl had almond colored skin, caramel-colored eyes, a thin body type, hair the color of wood, and a ton of ambition. She planned to one day become queen of this whole school environment, along with attending Yale and becoming the CEO of a well-known technology company in her future. Unfortunately, that didn't quite go much of anywhere, considering Alexis' nickname for her was "Wannabe", ouch. I believe her actual name was Adrienne Khalid, though. Alexis, Aaliyah, and Adrienne, that sounds planned out to me.

This year's backup crew looked way different, however. They looked as white as the clouds appeared when I went outside earlier. One had brown hair and looked exactly like the next Audrey Hepburn, complete with the brown eyes, top bun, and pearls. The other had wavy copper hair, a curvy body, and looked like something out of a '60s beach movie, but she looked very keen on that whole vintage style as well. After examining the group, I decided that Alexis would only be scary if I was scared of her, so I decided to ask her about it, since asking couldn't hurt, right? Wrong. Dead wrong.

"Hey, Alexis! Got a new set of bodyguards, I see! I thought the Powerpuff Girls were a cartoon, though!" I playfully teased with the trio, with a set of frowns returned my way.

"And I thought giraffes belonged in the zoo, so I guess we were both off! Oh, and I also thought I might have offered you dorks a little bit of leeway, possibly letting you guys actually in the building at lunch, but that's clearly a mistake!" The blonde barked back, rolling her eyes.

At this point, my anxiety is alive and well. However, she then decides to let her posse "accidentally" knock my fragile body into the lockers, and the nerves only increase tenfold. Fuck.

My panic only decreased when lunch rolled around. I hadn't seen these people since June and after what had just happened a couple hours earlier, I needed them right now to make me feel sane.

"My Chemical Romance played us with that ten-year Black Parade shit, man! They fucking played us!" I heard a dear friend call out to the group, as I made my way over.

"Dude, that was like two months ago. Get over it." I heard another friend reply, as I sat down.

"Still, man! We were fuckin' played, doesn't that bother you?" The other friend asked, before I got involved.

"Beavis, Butthead, simmer down." I interrupted, watching them in amusement.

"Beavis, Butthead, simmer down!" They mocked me in reply, before they decided not to talk in general.
