I opened my eyes to pitch black darkness. I was lying underneath, what felt like, a tree. A pile of embers smoldered a few feet away from me. I sat up, but the throbbing pain in my head caused me to lean against the tree. Looking up at the stars I remembered what happened last night. Tears started breming my eyes, I pulled my knees up against my chest and cried into my legs. Sobs wracked my body and made me tremble head to toe. 'He was gone,' I thought, 'I just got him back now he's go-' my thoughts stopped as strong arms wrapped around my small frame. I looked up and saw black hair with a blue and yellow bandana tied on it. Dark blue eyes looked at me with concern but a smile was on his face. I reached up and grabbed his face, tugging on his shirt, pinching his arms, making sure he was real. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck so suddenly he fell over on his back. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me tight. I pushed myself up a little to see his face in rising sunlight. I smiled, 'He's alive! That thing didn't kill him!' I realized. SMACK! I slapped Kouji right across the face, "Kouji Mamoru Minimoto don't you ever do that to me again, you understand!" I yelled at him, his eyes wide in shock as a red mark spread across his cheek. I leaned down and hugged him again, "I was really worried about you, I thought you died." I whispered in his ear, he hugged me tighter then sat up. I released my arms from his neck and looked down at the ground.
"Daaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmnnnnnnnnn you hit hard, Tsukiko!" he replied as he put his hand to his cheek. I laughed really hard at this, which caused me to fall backwards and laugh even more. This earned a chuckle from Kouji as he stood up. He outstretched his hand for me; I took it and hopped up. I looked around for a minute until Kouji came over and held something big and black in his hand, my backpack! I took it from him and weaved my arms through the straps and settled it on my back.
"Thanks Kouji, you always know what I'm thinking about." I told him. He smiled and turned to collect his stuff. Was that a blush I saw on his cheeks? Nah, probably not. I shrugged and went off after Kouji, who had already started walking.
"What happened after you fell through that hole? And did you see that sliver knight dude, he was weird!" He scratched the back of his head, "Well....." He trailed off. Then it hit me, "Oh. My. God." I read his face like a book, "Kouji that was you!!! Oh god I'm so sorry. I didn't know, I shouldn't have run away from you! Oh my gosh I feel so bad!" I looked down at the ground, ashasmed of what I had done. He put his arm around me.
"It's okay," he said, "you didn't know, I understand."
I smiled and looked at him, his eyes unfocused in the distance as he thought about what might happen next, unfazed by what was going on around them.
"Wait. Hold up. Stop the bus." I said, he looked at me with confusion all over his face. "How did you do that, because that is definately not normal?!" He laughed at my question before answering, "I really don't know." Now it was my turn to be confused.
"I remember falling down in the hole, and while I was down there I saw this sliver wolf/man statue thing. I took out this thing," he said, holding up his digivice, "whatever it is. I pointed it at the thing and the next thing I know I'm back on ground about to fight that creature....." He trailed off he seemed upset but I didn't know why, so i tried to cheer him up.
"I wonder if I get one! Oh that would be awesome! I'd give 'em a Hah and Hi-yah and woo-ya and I'd kick 'em sir" i said, quoting Anastasia, one of my favorite movies. "I bet I'm gonna have red hair and black clothes with green plants on it and a black Darth Vader mask!" I squealed, I really hope I don't look like that!
"You're joking right?!" He said with a smile on his face. I laughed, "Obviously."

We finally found train tracks that lead us to a small town. We started looking around for food, water, or even civilization because this place looked abandoned.
"Any one here?" I yelled, "We're nice people we just need some hel-" my sentence got cut off as Kouji placed his large hand over my mouth.
"Do you really want to attract more monsters like the one we encountered in the cave?" He whispered in my ear, "Your yelling practically says 'Free meal' in flashing lights above our heads! Do you really want to figure out what lives here?" I shook my head frantically in response, if there are creatures worse than the other one then I sure as hell didn't want to go toe to toe with them. He let go of my face and walked away to a shabby house on the left. He looked inside the dark window and waved me over, maybe he found something useful, like food! I walked over and stood by the door. He peeled off the window and stood beside me, "I think there might be something inside and if not we can at least get somewhere to crash." He whispered in my ear. I slowly shrugged my backpack off my back and started going through it. Kouji just looked at me like I was crazy and kept watch. I finally found what I was looking for and pulled it out. After I set it on the ground and unraveled the cloth Kouji looked at me with disbelief. "Why do you have a lock picking kit in your bag?!" He quietly yelled. "Don't worry I haven't used it," he breathed a sigh of relief and his face softened a bit, "very much." I added with a smirk on my face. His eyes wide and his muscles teased; I had to bite my lip just to stop myself from not laughing. After I had successfully picked the lock and put everything back in my bag I stood up and nodded my head, the signal for him to open the door. He reached his hand across my body and opened the door. We walked inside on high alert. As soon as I stepped inside a small throbbing started beating on the sides of my head near my temples. I shook it off assuming it was left over from my blackout. Inside it was a small shabby looking room that could have once been a living room. Its furniture was torn up the wallpaper was peeling off and it looked like there had been a fire with all the blacken wood. There were two doors on the other side of the room, I took the right and he took the left. I slowly walked through the corridor checking inside every door i came across and looking as well as i could in the dark rooms. As I walked, my head throbbed more and more with every step. I turned right, my head felt like it was about to explode. I was so focused on not dying from exasperating pain that I almost missed the large chasm in front of me. At that point I fell to my knees in agony. I cried out in pain and put my head in between my knees. Then, a sudden rush of air come out of the chasm. I lifted my head slightly, only to feel a cool metal press against the back of my neck.
