School ended briefly for me. It all passed in a blur. I can't even remember a single thing after the cafeteria incident. I head to my locker and shoved my books inside.
I texted my friends to meet me in our usual hang-out in the cafe across the street. I shut my locker and turned around to leave. But as I do, Jacove was standing there smiling at me.
"Hey, Ashlyn." Jacove said smiling. I narrowed my eyes at him. "What do you want?" He shoved his hands in his pockets and shrugged. "I just wanted to see you." I sighed and shook my head. "Look, I don't want anything to do with you so please, just fuck off." He grinned and amusement filled his eyes. "Feisty as always." I rolled my eyes and walked off.
"Hey, wait!" He called. I continued walking without looking back. He continued to call my name while catching up to me. I stop and turned to him. "Stop following me!" I almost shouted. "Where are you going?" he asked. I groan out of exasperation. I ran my hand over my face and looked at him. "Would you please just stay away from me?" I asked. He smiled innocently. "No."
I gaped at him. I spun my heel around and walked off again. It was just a matter of time until he caught up to me. "So, where are you going?" he asked again, whilst walking beside me. "I'm going to- It's none of your business." I muttered, annoyance evident in my expression. "That's interesting." he mumbled. "Would you please stop following me?" I groaned.
"Fine. But could you tell me where you're going?" He said. I narrow my eyes at him. "Why?" I asked. He shrugged and looked elsewhere. "Never mind, don't answer that. Just don't follow me." I said.
Before I could walk away, he grabbed my arm. "See you tomorrow, Ash." He smiled. I pulled my arm and walked away.
When I got to Cafe Helena's all my friends were already there. The Cafe was already half full. I'm not surprised; their frappe here is really good. "Hello, Julie!" they chorused together. "What's with the weird synchronization? A few seconds ago I felt like Charlie from Charlie's angels." They giggled.
I shook my head while laughing. I went to the counter and bought a caramel frappe. After that, I sat on the vacant chair on my friend's table. "So, Cari, care to tell me what happened?"
Her face fell while Kelly and Ana were downright shocked. I sip from my frappe and raise a brow at her as if challenging her to answer me. She looked down at her palms and started playing with the napkin she was holding.
"I'm waiting." I said. She sighed heavily and looked up at me. "I-I g-gave it to h-him." she muttered. I creased my forehead. "Gave what?" I narrowed my eyes at her. She swallowed uncomfortably and shifted on her sit. "Cari," I warned. "What in the fucking hell did you give?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"M-my v-card." she whispered. My eyes widen and disappointment filled me. Don't ask why I'm overreacting. It's just that, if her parents learned about it, they'd kill her. Literally.
Holding myself back, I ask "Why?" She shrugged. "It's because I didn't want to lose him." I raise a brow. "And you think giving it to him would stop him from leaving you?"
She nodded slowly. I sighed and ruffled my hair distressingly. "Okay, I won't get mad at you. Since, it's what you wanted. Fine, I'll let it slip. But please do learn your goddamned lesson." Her eyes twinkle in delight. "Thanks. You're the best Julie!"
After a while, they were chatting about the latest gossip at school while I just sit and listen to them. "Hey guys, did you hear about Patrick's suspension?" Kelly asked. Both girls nod. Suddenly, everything that happened earlier came rushing back to me.
Well, it was his fault anyway.
"So do any of you guys know why?" Kelly asked, suddenly pulling me from my thoughts. "I heard he tried to get a girl suspended. But his plans backfired." Cari said. "I fucking love that girl, whoever she is!" Kelly said, fist pumping.
