Cambria faced Marshal, still bearing the blade towards him, eyes staring him down like he was a stuck pig and she was the hunter.
"Don't be like that. Come, I have something to show you." Marshal moved his finger in a 'come here' motion.
Cambria lowered her pole-blade and walked towards him. Once she was next to him he wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. Cambria tried to push him off, but he had a tight grip on her and began squeezing tighter.
"Oh, my dearest Cambria. You've been through a lot haven't you? But it's okay, I'm here. I'll take care of you," he put his lips right next to her ear and whispered "I'll love you."
With that being said, Cambria drove her heel into his foot and he let go.
"Why do you do that? Tempt me? Or make it seem like we're 'in love'?" Cambria stood away from him and gave him a look of puzzlement.
Marshal began laughing and put his arm around her, "I'm just teasing. Lighten up. I know your in love with Kai."
She pushed him off again and began blushing, "I am not! I just admire his skill!"
Marshal looked down at the ground and swayed his foot back and forth, "You'll admire my skills here soon." he whispered under his breath.
Marshal walked over to her and took her hand. "Come on. Enough gossip. We'll be torn apart if we stand here too long."
Marshal opened the door leading into the main office and guided her through. The desks had paper scattered all over them. Phones were off hooks, drinks were spilled, computers unresponsive. All the faculty just zapped out, so unexpectedly. He led her to the back room where the control panels were located. The room was small and held all of the schools controls. From the lighting, to the announcement systems, to the wifi, this room was the mother ship of the school. Marshal closed the door behind him and blushed as he looked around. He put his hand behind his head.
"Sorry about the mess. Tinkering with the electrical system gets me a bit... messy."
Cambria looked down and noticed the ground was laced with papers about everything having to do with the power system.
"I don't understand. The power is supposed to be cut, and the water system is supposed to be drained." Cambria looked at the panels and realized all of them were working perfectly.
"Oh, they are. Well the water system is a pretty obvious factor. But only the schools electrical system is working, thanks to yours truly." Marshal moved closer to Cambria.
"What do you mean the water system is obvious?" Cambria questioned studying him closely.
"Where did you find that girl who passed out during 8th period?"
"I found her next to the drinking fountain."
"Bingo. The virus that mutates humans into Mortuus is in fact, in the water system. I've witnessed it. Poor girl. I told her to come back here with me. I told her I'd protect her, and she believed me. 'But first!' I said, 'Take a drink! Take a long drink and freshen up before we go into the offices!'. She believed me and took a long drink, even splashed the water onto her boobs in an attempt to be sexy. That's when I witnessed her become a Mortuus. Such riveting data was collected from the sweet thing." Marshal ran his finger along one of the panels slowly.
"Your a sick man, Marshal. But then again, your data is helpful." Cambria backed away from Marshal but hit the wall behind her. "So you've been hiding here. Tinkering with the electrical system in the school and amazingly you managed to override the Valentis' code and get the power in the school going again. Remarkable. And yet, you could do all of that, but you can't get those damn doors open and let us out?" Cambria clenched her fist in anger and prepared her hand to be swiped across Marshals face.
Marshal pinned Cambria to the wall and took her hand in his. He put them up to his lips and whispered, "I knew once you had a weapon, you'd leave the school. I didn't know where you'd go or where to find you. So yes, I came here and tinkered with the locks on the doors, keeping you and everyone else from escaping. Knowing you I had a feeling you'd come looking for me, cause you can't help but to feel drawn to me. Am I not right?"
Cambria stuttered but couldn't find the right words, so she remained silent.
"That's what I thought. Now that I have you," he moved his face closer to hers "I'm ready to do whatever it takes to keep you with me."
