Be happy this took forever

Maya and Riley walked into school laughing. "Hey what's so funny?" Lucas walked up and laughed. Maya's face fell as she narrowed her eyes. She gave him a quick glare and stomped around him. "Riley?" She called turning back to see her making puppy dog eye contact with Lucas. She glanced back up at Maya and smiled "coming!" She said. Once Lucas was out of earshot Riley sighed "look Maya, you know if you wanna be angry at Lucas forever I'll stand by you, but do you really think that's the best option?" "Yes I do." Maya shot back almost immediately. Riley sighed again "okay, but, you know we all sorta hang out together, and you might be compressing your feelings-" "My feelings?" Maya said and raised her eyebrows "Lucas doesn't care about my feelings. He never has." Riley furrowed her eyebrows "and you think Josh does?" "leave Josh out of this." She said sharply. "Maya you tried dating him before, he cheated on you! Lucas would never do that!" Suddenly they heard a loud giggle. Maya turned around and  saw Lucas tickling a red head with short hair as she giggled loudly and flashed her crooked teeth. "You never know what people are capable of." She said heartbroken and walked off. "Maya wha-" Riley whipped around to face what she was looking at...and then she saw.

Riley ran over to Lucas and the girl he was hung over. "You, go away." Riley said looking at the red head.  She looked shocked and her mouth hung open. "Riley" Lucas said in his fake happy voice. "What do you want" Riley glared at Lucas then turned her gaze to the girl. "Go away freckle face!" She said. The girl made a sound indicating that she was both astonished and offended. Lucas whispered something into her ear and she walked away, clearly pissed. "Great, now I'm gonna fail my Spanish quiz. What do you want, Riley?" "I want to know why you are such an idiot? Why Maya is probably on her way to the girls bathroom with tears streaming down her face because you can't wait until you get home to grope freckle face." She spat. Lucas looked horrified "oh no, Maya saw that?!" "Of course she did" Riley snapped back. "Look it's not what it looks like" he pleaded "I'm failing Spanish, Maya and I used to study together, and she really helped me..." Riley rolled her eyes while he continued "but since she's not talking to me, I needed to get some extra help. The only way Freckl- Maggie would help me is if we....did stuff" Riley raised her eyebrows and looked disgusted "did stuff?" Lucas shifted his weight "yeah, not sex, we just make out." He pleaded and Riley rolled her eyes "well if you could not do it in the middle of the hallway that would be great." She said and turned away.

Maya felt tears swell up in her eyes. How could he? Maya ran down the hallway her vision blurring. She would not let the tears fall. Don't fall. Then, bam. Maya fell to the ground surrounded by a few books. "Oh my gosh" a husky voice said. "I am so sorry."  Her tears feel, but at least she could see clearly, the guy standing above her holding his hand out to help her up was hot, like handsome and sexy hot. He had black hair and blindingly bright emerald eyes. He smiled a killer smile. Maya grabbed his hand and stood up. "Thank you." She said. He looked at her "hey what are friends for, right?" "I've never met you in my entire life" Maya said and laughed which only made her cry more. "Well then hi I'm Dyla-hey, hey what's wrong" the guy said. He bent down to look at Maya who was looking down at the floor. "Nothing, I'm fine don't worry about me." "Alright I've seen you cry, we're officially friends." He said And Maya laughed "it's Dylan, right?" He smiled "yes and you are mysterious, blind lady?" Maya laughed and look down at his books that she knocked on the ground. "I'm Maya." He smiled just as they hear Ding, Ding, Ding. The late bell. "Alright, Maya" he said as he scribbled something down on a piece of paper " i gotta get to class, but you call me if you need anything, and even if you don't he said winking Maya smiled and took the paper held out to her. "Okay, bye!" She said walking towards the exit of the school. "Sorry about your books!" She yelled again and be gave a laugh before entering a class. Maya walked over to the door as soon as it closed behind him. Huh the music room. He was a band nerd. Maya smiled to herself and walked out of the school.
