Three tiring, repairing, healing years later...
I sat on my balcony railing, staring dully at the Sun setting. Another day gone. The last three years were hard. I am now fourteen. I was going to turn fifteen in a month or so.
I was on a rampage, killing everyone in my path before he stopped me. Then we started to restore the world. Luckily, there was plenty of people left untouched, untouched by my anger and hatred for the world. We had set to work, repairing things that either the war destroyed or I did. The irony in this is ridiculous. I was prepared to die to save the world. I was ready to protect my siblings and my friends with my life. But they died instead. And then I became a murderer to save the world.
I rubbed my eyes sleepily. The day was exhausting, like the past few years. A day of signing contracts and overseeing constructions. A bunch of meetings and planning. With only an hour for food and rest. And only like, six hours for sleep. And not even that, I can't even go to sleep early, because the Sun's light is blinding and I can't sleep unless it's completely dark. Then in the morning, the moment the Sun's light hit me, I wake up. Ugh. Okay fine, I'm exaggerating, but you know what I mean.
"You shouldn't be out here. Shouldn't you be in bed and trying to sleep?" A familiar voice asked behind me.
"You know why I can't sleep." I said grumpily.
"Huh. Maybe you should go for a run, have some excitement before bedtime." He said. I rolled my eyes even though he can't see my action.
"That'll make it even harder to sleep, dummy." I retorted.
"No need to be so rude. I have feelings too." He said, a smile in his voice. I leaped to my feet, crouching on the balcony railing, then jumped, twisting in the air, and tackled him.
"Don't taunt me." I growled in his face. I was so grouchy these last few years.
"Aww, someone isn't happy today." He purred, laughing.
"I should've let Shane kill you, Lelouch." I hissed.
"Oh, would you really?" Lelouch asked seriously.
"No." I admitted. "You're the only one left to tie me back to the past."
"You gotta let it go. The past is the past. There's only the present and the future." Lelouch lectured.
"Easier said than done." I said. "I don't know why I didn't kill you when I saw you. You're so annoying."
"That's because you looooove me." Lelouch teased, his violet eyes twinkling.
"Why are you so happy these days?" I grumbled.
"That's because someone special made me happy." He replied. "Now come on! You ought get some rest before tomorrow. You have to work!" Lelouch pushed me off him, and that's when I realized I was still on top of him. He grabbed my hand and pulled me inside my bedroom.
"Being Empress is so tiring. Maybe I should quit." I mused. "All work, no fun. I wish I was little again. I get to play more." My heart twisted painfully. The horrible memories just won't go away. My childhood is so messed up.
"But if you quit, who's gonna rule in your place? No one can rule as good as you." Lelouch pointed out.
"Hmph. Maybe you can. You're smarter." I muttered.
"Smarter doesn't mean better." Lelouch argued.
"Fine. I was thinking of sharing the responsibility with someone. I know, call me selfish." I said.
"Nah. You deserve a rest." Lelouch assured me. I flopped back onto my bed, stretching. "Besides, who is it?" Lelouch asked, flopping onto my bed also. I turned to him, propping my head up with my hand.
"You really wanna know?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course. I wanna know who the lucky guy is. He gets to be Emperor and managed to catch the heart of someone so cold. You don't get impressed by guys, heck anyone, so I'm surprised to find out there is a guy out there for you." Lelouch remarked.
"Doesn't mean I block everyone out means I'm cold hearted." I responded. "I have feelings too."
"Of course you do, otherwise, how did you kill, like, the whole world?" He mumbled under his breath. I let his words slide by.
"So, you really wanna know who the "lucky" guy is?" I questioned. I made air quotes when I said lucky.
"Yes. That way, I can warn him not to get on your bad side. In case he somehow missed the fact you're a killer." Lelouch smirked. I ignored that last part.
"Well, you don't really need to warn him, since he already knows." I stated. Then I lowered my voice. "It's..." I paused for effect.
"Just spit it out!" Lelouch exclaimed, starting to get annoyed by the stalling.
"It's you, Lelouch." I confessed.
