Pop! Pop! Pop!
I let out a low groan, lifting my head off my desk and squinting at my alarm clock. Ten minutes to one. How had I fallen asleep on my desk? I glanced down at Kelly's homework, now crumpled after bearing the weight of my sleeping form.
A sigh escaped my lips as I leaned back, yawning and rubbing my eyes. I stumbled to my feet, flicking off the light and falling face first onto my bed. Kelly's homework could wait until the morning. Right now, I needed rest.
Pop!
My head shot up as I searched for the source of the sound. After a few seconds of silence, another pop! rang throughout the room. My eyes flickered towards the window, my brow creasing.
"What the..." I stood, crossing the room clumsily and throwing the window open, only to have a rock nail me right in the eye.
"Ow!" I fell backwards, clutching my head and staring out the window in shock.
"Shit!" I heard a familiar voice as someone rushed towards my window. "I'm so sorry, Lindsey, I was trying to be—"
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I frowned, getting to my feet to look down. There stood Drew, a small bouquet of flowers in his hand and a guilty grin on his face. I scowled at him, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I was trying to be romantic," Drew said with a nervous laugh. I rolled my eyes.
"Well, congratulations," I said saucily. "You successfully blinded me in one eye."
"Are you always this grumpy?"
"Only when I'm woken up at midnight by my idiot boyfriend."
Drew grinned. "Boyfriend?"
I let out a sigh. "Is there a reason you're here? Or did you just want to annoy me?"
"I want you to come with me."
I stared at him. "Yeah, no. Goodnight."
"Lindsey, wait!" Drew said, but I shut the window before he could speak. I glanced at my door, with the locks still changed, and bit my lip. A part of me knew it was crazy, but I wanted so much to just go with him and get a break from all the craziness of life in this household. I jumped when another pop sounded.
I tossed the window open, glaring at Drew. "Are you trying to get me killed? You wake up Donna and I'll never see the light of day again."
"I'll stop if you come with me."
I looked over my shoulder at my door, before blushing. "I...can't."
"Sure you can. Just sneak out."
"You are one great role model," I said sassily, before sighing. "No, I really can't. Donna switched the locks on my doors. I...I'm locked in."
I saw Drew's fist tighten slightly around the bouquet, but he quickly shot me a forced smile. "Sneak out the window."
I blinked. "You really are insane."
"No, I'm serious. Just climb onto the roof of the garage and then jump onto my car."
"Drew, I'm two stories up."
