We walked up to the lunch table where their friends sat laughing and smiling. I know those will disappear when they hear the news. That Leo might be on a quest that he may not return from.

Annabeth was the first to notice the worried look on my face and the sad one on Pipers.

"What's wrong" Annabeth said. Her face concerned. me and pipes looked at eachother.

"Um" piper said turning back to the table and we sat down. I looked at Leo's empty chair he always sat next to him. "Leo's gone." I blurted

"What do you mean gone?" Hazel asked

"We mean gone. he left to.to find someone..." Piper said sadly

"Who?" everyone said in unison

"He might not return..." I said. "where he is going is in ancient lands."

"Are you guys saying that Leo went to the ancient lands by himself?" percy protested. "why? for who?"

"Whom" Annabeth corrected

I pulled the note out of my pocket and they all read together.

Percy and Annabeths face went flat and Hazel and Frank were shocked

"Gods..." Frank said "never knew Leo had a side like that."

"He fell in love with a goddess." Hazel said. "poor Leo so broken..." me and Piper nodded but te others were confused.

"Why is he 'broken'?" Annabeth wondered out loud

"When he was a baby his babysitter who was actually Hera let him play with snakes and let him sleep in a fire place...that was on fire. Then his mothers workshop was set on fire by Gaea and kills his mom today he is still convinced that it was his fault." I said plainly "why wouldn't he be?"

Annabeths face was plain "that's besides the point the real problem here is that he is on a quest by himself to Calypso's island that can't be found twice and how in the world is he going to get there?"

"He rebuilt Festus." Frank said

"What?!" we all said together

"Well I went into the bunker to get him to fix the door frame on Hazels cabin and I saw it." Frank said.

"We can't help him on this quest." percy said "he has to do this on his own. If anyone can find it it's Valdez."

No one said anything after that we sat in silence and all hoped for the safety of our friend.

LEO X

Leo took it back. nothing was going our way. At first it was fine they flew with no problems until we got to New York. We were ambushed by harpies. Calypso ducked and kept out of reach and I grabbed a giant malet out of my belt. and set it on fire. I slashed a few turning them I a fine gold powder. but of course I loose my grip and the flaming malet feel down towards the ground. Maybe fighting hundreds of feet in the air was a bad idea.

The harpies gave up on Calypso she was too quick for them. They all focused on me. shoot. no weapon I was clawed at. I felt myself letting go slowly. no. calypso. fight for her. when I got enough strangth to get up it all stopped. I opened my eyes to see hold dust all around and Calypso standing there without a scratch. I was going to ask how did you do that? when I tried all that came out was a wince.

"LEO!" Calypso scramed towards me "Oh gods are you okay?"

"Do I look okay sunshine?" I croaked. I didn't. I was torn to pieces.

"Leo it okay! are we almost there?" she asked

"Yes. you can heal me there. I promise I won't die" I said. It hurt. The pain was awful. But I would fight for her.

"Why Valdez don't want to die and become a remembered hero?" she joked her eyes where filled with tears

"No I don't want to leave you alone again." I said. I smiled. She needed it. I closed my eyes a squeezed her hand and whispered "I'm not letting go."
