Through the Portal

Chapter Two: Out Cold

"MATTHEW!" Steph screamed.

The portal closed with a shudder, leaving the two friends alone with this strange version of Matthew. He turned around and grinned.

"Perfect, my plan is complete!" Matthew pointed a finger at Jason who was now trying his best to restrain Stephanie from clawing Matthew's face off, "Give me the exact location of this place and your position to the other me now."

"Why should we?" Jason responded.

Matthew's body tensed up a bit at Jason's defiance, but he regained his composure before pulling out a dagger and pointing it at the two. "Follow my orders now, or I'll kill you!"  

However, his threats were met with Jason's laughter. "Hah, you call that threatening?" He let go of Stephanie and wiped the tears from his eyes, "Okay there shrimp, bring Matt back and we'll let you go."

"What are you doing?" Stephanie whispered.

"Look at his stance." Jason said.

Matthew gripped his dagger tightly, but the stance was completely sloppy. Sure Stephanie wasn't a swordsman, but even she could see multiple weak spots in his stance. Grinning, she decided to join in, "Yeah! Our Matthew is amazingly powerful," She stiffed a laugh, "So bring him back or I'll...I'll..." Her eyes wandered to Peepachu and she grinned, "I'll electrocute you!"

Matthew's body went slack, "Even in this universe you're still magical." His voice was soft, causing confusion to Jason and Stephanie. However, he quickly regained a fierce composure, "Which is why I will defeat you Jason!" A wicked grin spread across his face, "And then we can be together again Stephy."

"Uh, I think you have the wrong guy." Jason said before dodging Mathew's swing.

Stephanie stood there dumbstruck. What was he talking about? Just what happened in that world that would cause this Mathew to have it out for Jason?  

"You and that bastard of a king are still one in the same," He tried plunging the blade into Jason's chest, but the muscular man was able to use a chair as a makeshift shield.

"I'm a king?" Jason said while throwing the chair on top of Matthew, knocking him cold.

The two gazed at his unconscious body before looking at each other. Then, Stephanie hesitantly left to search for duct tape while Jason stood guard. Once she returned, they bound his arms and legs together before sitting him on the couch.

"What now?" Stephanie asked.

"We wait until he wakes up." Jason replied.
