The day arrived in that the fate of the "universe" of that world fell into Chaos's hands. As Chaos prepared himself and weapons for battle, Zicon appeared from a portal saying, "I've come to see the door to this world. This world had been connected. Tied to the darkness. Soon to be completely eclipsed. You do not yet know, what lies beyond the door." "What are you talking about Zicon?" Chaos asked perplexed by what he just heard. "We must leave now Chaos!" Zicon exclaimed. "I'm not leaving. I'm going to help them protect this world whether it kills me or not!" Chaos shouted. "Time is short, you must understand Chaos." Zicon insisted. "It ain't over till I say it's over you son of a bitch." Chaos growled as he grabbed Zicon by the throat and shoved him back into the portal. He then closed it and left to the battlefield. Zicon rose from the ground in pain and cryptically said, "The answers you seek, lie within. The fate of creation hangs in your hands now, Chaos." A monitor-like machine appeared showing Chaos's progress from the beginning of becoming a Time Trapper till present day. "May the odds be in your favor." He uttered, "You'll certainly need it today."
As Walpurgisnacht arrived, it caused an intense storm, thought to be a supercell; however, Chaos knew that the storm was caused by the witch. All the civilians in Mitakihara City were evacuated to a shelter supposedly far from the storm. Without alerting anyone Homura began to fight the witch using a large number of weapons, including rocket launchers, explosives, and a petrol tanker. However, the witch withstood her attacks, and even started sending familiars to further attack Homura.
Back at the shelter, Madoka left the main hall of the shelter where her family was evacuated in order to talk with Kyubey. He avoided giving a clear answer on whether or not Homura or the rest of the girls could defeat Walpurgis Night, persuading Madoka to go see it herself. He commented that Homura was able to fight because of her hope, which could always be sustained: in the worst case, she could turn back time and try again. However, losing her hope would mean turning into a witch; as long as she had hope, there was no escape from her ultimate fate. "Just like all magical girls throughout the history," he remarked. Moments later, Chaos appeared and ran towards her, "Hey. Are you ready?" "I-I don't know. I'm scared." She replied shakenly. "We all are." He responded softly, "Come on. We have to get the others quickly." "Why?" "Homura started the fight without us. If we don't get there in time, she's going to die." "Can I ask you something very quickly?" "Sure." "Why do you always joke around, even when we are in extreme danger?" "That's simple. I joke around and especially in this occasion to hide my fear. I too am afraid, not just for my life but of yours and the others as well. When everyone else including you have giving up hope there has to be at least one person to try and keep that small ray bright. Even though technically I agree, I don't have the luxury of that. Because once I give up hope, then that automatically means I failed. And I am not a failure." They quickly found the rest of the girls and prepared to leave the shelter. "What about scouting the area for people who got left behind?" Kyoko asked. "We don't have time." Chaos answered, "Homura has begun without us. We have to go now!"
As everyone snuck out of the building, Madoka and Chaos were the last ones to leave. While she proceeded to leave, her mother stopped her, "Where do you think you're going, huh?" "We don't have time for this!" Chaos exclaimed gruffly as he walked towards her prepared to attack. "Don't!" Madoka shouted, "Please." Chaos growled in frustration, "Fine." "Mom, I have to go outside. To save a friend." Madoka declared. "The fire department can take care of that. You need to stay here." Junko responded firmly. "But I'm the only one who can do this!" Madoka cried. Junko slapped her and cried, "You can't just go off and do what you want! Don't you know how much we worry about you if you just went out there without anything..." "I know." Madoka interrupted her, "I do mom, really. I know how you and dad would feel because I love you too. I understand how much you and dad care about me. And I know I have to be careful. I do. But this is different, I have to protect you because of how much I care about you. I can do it. But the only way I can help is if you let me go with Chaos right now." "Sure you don't wanna tell me what this is about?" Madoka didn't respond causing her mother to say, "Okay. Then I'm coming with you." Madoka shook her head then said, "Mom, it's better if you stay with dad and Tatsuya. Someone has to make sure their safe too. You told me once that you did a good job of raising me and you're right. You did. I don't tell lies, and I don't do bad things. I need you to trust me know. I need you to trust that I'm doing the right thing." Junko tried to go with Madoka but didn't budge, "And you're sure you're not making a mistake? No one's lying to you or trying to trick you? You sure that boy isn't tricking you into doing something bad?" "I'm sure." Madoka replied softly, "And that boy, is a close friend. He's the one who's going to make the greatest difference in all of this madness." She then headed outside to meet Chaos but stopped half ways, looked back and said, "Thank you mom."
