Molly tapped her forehead in desperate hope that it would ease her writers block. It was Christmas Eve and her asshole of a boss had her working until she'd completed her article. She was stressed, exhausted and her stomach was calling out endlessly for some food. Just as her creative juice's had started to flow, and the last few finishing words began to appear on the page, her computer shut down. All the work she'd painfully launched herself at, gone.

"Merry fucking Christmas..." She muttered under her breath, splaying out on the keyboard and admitting a long sigh of defeat.

She heard footsteps approaching her office door; It was Justin, her long time work colleague, and shoulder to cry on in times of work crisis. He lent against the door and smiled at her sympathetically "And what are you still doing here?"

She replied with an irritated tone "Ruining my Christmas spirit."

Justin chuckled, his deep gravely tone echoing around the empty office. It was hard to tell that this man wasn't straight, his voice and the way he held himself just screamed 'I am a man and my penis is bigger than yours, so don't test me'. The way Molly had found out that Justin was gay was actually rather embarrassing; she'd made a pass at him at their company's 2007 Christmas party, only to get softly rejected.

Justin walked further into the office, perching himself on the edge of her desk "Come on Moll..." He encouraged "If I had Captain America waiting at home, I wouldn't be sat in the freezing office writing bullshit articles for Mr Walters..."

"Well then, It's a good job you don't have him waiting at home or you'd get fired." Molly challenged

"Moll, It's your anniversary... Go home for fuck's sake!" Justin breathed a laugh "I don't know why you insist on finishing this work for Walters, he's a complete dick! And we both know that he'll be happily spending his time at this year's Christmas do' getting drunk, eating and perving on the new secretary while you sit here and slave your ass off... Just go!"

Molly considered staying and finishing the job, but her laptop's recent display of disloyalty hadn't played too well on her nerves; She'd be here for another couple of hours at least, before she would get to the same standard as she had been before her laptop had died. Slamming the laptop shut, she proudly slipped on her coat and scarf and waltzed out of her office. Flashing Justin a toothy grin, she hugged him tight "Merry Christmas J."

He chuckled "You too Moll, now go."

When she arrived home the house was completely black. Managing to maneuver through the darkness, she found the light switch that lit up the kitchen. She silently tiptoed through to the kitchen in an effort to not wake her sleeping boyfriend. Her and Chris had been together for over 4 years, and tonight was the anniversary of their first date.

As she shrugged off her coat and placed in on the coat rack, she noticed a plate on the worktop; It was tightly wrapped in foil and had a post-it-note stuck on that read, 'Dinner x'.

"Shit..." She whispered unwrapping the foil, to reveal a lovingly prepared feast of her favorite food's "Homemade chicken casserole with veg and dumplings...". She had no idea that he'd cooked a meal for the two of them. Guilt consumed her and suddenly she didn't feel so hungry any more. He'd even made her favorite, itty bitty potato wedges, just the way she liked them.

As Molly hauled herself upstairs, she thought of how to phrase her excuse so that Chris might not be as disappointed. She opened the door a jar to poke her head in, it looked like he was fast asleep, so she slipped in and began getting changed into her nightwear.

She slid into bed beside him, the sudden movement of the mattress and duvet causing him to stir. Chris was layed on his side in just tracksuit bottoms, the bed clothes were barely covering his exposed chest. He lifted one eyelid, smiling once he saw his girlfriend lying next to him "Moll-doll..." He cooed, ushering her into his arms "I missed you today. How come you were so long at the office?"

She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, burrowing her nose into his neck. "I just completely lost it. Couldn't for the life of me figure out what word to write next... You know what Walters is like, I had strict orders to finish before I left for Christmas."

Chris grunted "Yes Walters, no Walters, three bags full Walters... Don't know why you put up with that dick."

"Neither do I..." She agreed.

"At least you got it finished for Christmas sweety."

"No..." She admitted "I didn't..."

His brows furrowed "What d'you mean?"

"My laptop died, along with my will to live. Everything I'd done over the entire afternoon, gone."

"Ouch... So how come your here? S'not like you to walk away from a job half finished..."

"Justin." She concluded

Chuckling, Chris nodded "Good ol' Justin".

There was a long pause before Molly decided to make her apology "Listen, baby I-"

"-I know what your going to say." He hushed her "It was my fault, I wanted it to be a surprise... Should've told you."

"No, Chris..." She ran a hand up and down his torso "Its just that, If you'd have told me, I would've been able to have made sure I was definitely free. I feel so bad that you made that whole dinner and had to eat it by yourself on our anniversary..."

"Its ok... We still have Christmas dinner tomorrow, You can make it up to me then." He wiggled his eyebrows at her.

She giggled and slapped his chest playfully "I shall not fall for your dirty puns and 'pull my cracker' jokes this year Evans..."

"Dammit." He groaned mockingly.

She glanced up at him for a moment, he looked so adorable; his eyes were tightly shut and he wore that cute side-ways grin; he was such a big kid at Christmas and she loved it.

"You know... If you only pretend to be asleep, Santa won't come..." She joked.

He laughed and displayed a mock face of disgust "What! No fair..."

They both settled back down, Molly lay half across Chris' chest, with her leg draped over his hips. She was just about to let sleep claim her when she heard Chris emit a quiet giggle,

"You sure you don't wanna pull my cracker?"
