"Here we are! You two just wait here and I'll go get him" the cleaner said, opening a door then closing it. Mark and jack were left in silence. "So.." mark said, "where you from?"
"Can you not tell from the accent?" Jack answered sarcastically. Mark rolled his eyes, jack was sassy but mark liked that,
"Oh sorry I was just trying to make conversation" he answered back,
"Eh true, so I'm Irish where are you from?"
"Originally I'm from Hawaii but now I live in LA"
"Oh cool, so why do you like video games?"
"What if I don't?" Mark asked, smirking,
"Well, you're stuck here in a video game so you must like it to some extent" jack answered, returning the smirk.
"True, it makes me happy, to be honest with you. Sometimes when I'm feeling down I'll play, it's like a coping mechanism, I guess, how about you?"
"I don't really know, it's just something I really love. You've probably figures out by now I've got a lot of anger in me and video games help me let it out, it calms me. And about anger, you seem like a cool dude so if I do get angry at you please don't take it personally, sometimes I can't control myself" Mark noticed how quite jacks voice went at the end of his statement. This obviously wasn't something he wanted to talk about but he had to. If they were going to go through this whole game together they would need to now each others flaws and strengths. Jack had openly told Mark his but mark wasn't quite ready, "hey, it's okay" Mark said, making jack smile weakly, "I understand. Anyway, we've all got flaws, no ones perfect"
"Thanks Mark, I feel like after this is all over we should hang out."
"If we get out of here, we don't know for sure"
Marks statement was followed by an awkward silence. No one liked the thought of dying but he was correct. Something could happen but they tried not to think about that right now. So jack changed the topic quickly, "so, out special items and abilities, why is your item a pink warfstache?"
"Well, when I was younger I liked to act, I still do but not as much. There was this one roll I really enjoyed playing, his name was Wilford Warfstache, he was a loud, energetic character. He had a pink mustache and it would make him stronger, they would call it a warfstache. I loved playing him so much we added him into many plays and projects, he was a bit of a lunatic but I liked that. In the end I realised he was kind-of a part of me, so I'm guessing that I'll sort-of become him using the warfstache which is cool. So what about the eye"
"Wow, I feel like that's a much better story than mine, well I was young and my brother was going to uni. He was basically my carer, my mum was hardly home because of work and my dad had left for unknown reasons when I was born. So when he was leaving I was upset, so he made me a little plushy. It was a small green ball with a tail that a blue eye. We called it Sam and whenever I missed him I would cuddle with it," jack blushed, realising that he felt stupid saying this but he continued anyway, "I've still got it today since I moved away before my brother got back home because... because of reasons. So I don't really know where he is right now but at least I have Sam to remember him by." Just as jack had said that a small green ball appeared from out of his pocket. It blinked, well, it winked? Since it only had one eye and looked at jack. Jack stood still, his mouth hanging open and his eyes wide. Mark smiled at the cute sight. "It looks like your friends now alive" Mark chuckled.Sam rubbed himself on jacks hand and jack got the hint, stroking Sam. Before jack could day anything though the door opened and Sam swooped down into his pocket, disappearing. Out of the door came a round, short man with eager eyes that reflected the light. In between his rosy cheeks was a set of pale pink lips that formed a huge smile, exposing his perfect white teeth. "Hello Jack, hello Mark, I've been expecting you!" He exclaimed, his voice was cheery and full of happiness, "come one, I need to talk to you"
His office was a mess. Books and files were scattered across the floor, and pens and pencils were everywhere. The curtains were pulled open, letting the landscape be exposed. Outside it was different to the inside. Rain hammered down making the green grass muddy as it turned into a slush. Dark gray clouds crawled across the sky, keeping the sun captive in a dull, cold, wet jail cell. Wherever you could see the sky it was a dark teal colour making the sky seem even gloomier.
Inside it was warm and bright, just like the last room they had been in, this room had a fire too. It flickered gently emitting a warm, welcoming glow. The smell of smoky wood filled the room and as the man sat down he said, "you two don't know who I am."
"Correct" Mark said politely, "would you like to explain why you need us?"
"Of course!" The overly excited man answered, "my name's Martin by the way. Right, now you're in my mansion, I own this land too. I'm 'basically' the mayor and I say 'basically' because we haven't had a vote for it, no one else really wanted to be in charge. This place isn't very big and we don't have a large population, there's a small village west of here and that's most of the population. Now here's the problem, as you can see, its raining. It never rains this much, ever. We have a machine at the very edge of this place that controls weather and I'm worried that the glitch gang have attached it." He stopped and glanced out the window, as if he was scared someone was listening into their conversation, "they're a group of men, well, robots actually that will destroy things to get money. Last time they came they destroyed it and killed nearly half the town. There have been sightings of them recently and I'm worried they've destroyed it again, so I need you to go check for me. Will you do it?"
Jack turned to mark, "I'm guessing this is the way forward?"
"Yep," Mark said, then turning to Martin, "yes we will"
"Thank you!" Martin said, shaking both men's hands, "if you come with me I'll get you ready to go"~~~~~
"You two stay safe, and once you've completed it, you'll get rewarded!" Martin said and tanked them once more. They all said their goodbyes and then the two boys were on their way.
Martin had given them each a rucksack with food, water and a first-aid kit in. There were also things like matches, a couple of torches, basically, things they might need. Finally, there were maps, even though Martin said, "all you had to do was follow the path into the village," he still gave them maps, "just in case." Both of them had waterproofs on but they didn't really help since the rain battered down and didn't look like it was going to stop. Martin waved at both boys and they waved back, leaving his mansion. They set off towards the village.

Tell me what you think of the story so far, tbh I quite like it and I know, not much ''action'' has happened yet but some will appear in the next couple of chapters!
