Silently, both boys packed everything away and when they were away from the village the decide to talk,
"What do you think the glitch gang will be like?" Mark asked,
"I'm not sure, hopefully they won't be too hard to fight" jack replied.
"Hopefully we won't have to fight at all,"
"That's unlikely"
"Yes but I can hope, can't I?"
Jack sighed, shaking his head. Mark really was a pacifist, whereas jack liked genocide. It helped him get out his anger and eventually he sometimes would look happy but would have anger stored up inside of him. So maybe jack could fight and if Mark really needs to get involved, then he can.
"I'll fight, you can wait at the sidelines if you want. Then if you really need to get involved you can" jack suggested. Marks face lit up.
"You'd really do that for me?"
"Of course but I feel like you'll fight and then get the rush of it all. Maybe you'll enjoy it?"
Mark shook his head, "no, well, not for now anyway"
"We'll see" jack said, smirking.
"Sure, we'll see" mark mimicked jack, rolling his eyes.

Mark did not like violence. He wanted peace, he really did. But deep down a voice spoke to him. It's only a video game, no one would notice. Anyway, no one would care. Just do it? The voice was deep and gruff and mark didn't like it. He pushed the voice down and covered it with other thoughts. He didn't want to use weapons, he didn't want to be violent. So for now, he didn't think about it.
"We're here" jack stated, his voice seemed distance as Mark was lost in his thoughts, "hey Mark, you okay?"
Mark gulped in air, realising he had stopped breathing as he thought of the voice, it sounded... familiar,
"Oh yeah, I'm fine" he answered, "just thinking"
Jack nodded but looked unsure. Mark looked up at the building he was about to enter.

It was large and metallic, almost prison like. Pipes and tubes flew everywhere and wires wrapped around them. The building was tall and it reached up to the clouds so you couldn't see the top. Jack pushed the door open, it's cold metal rubbing on his skin. Screeching on the floor, the door stopped and both boys steeped into the building. It was probably colder insider than outside but at least it was dry.

Darkness surround them as jack tried to search for the light switch but didn't find anything. Click. Mark switched on his torch and Jack did the same.

Inside the building was even worse. Pipes and wires were scattered everywhere and in the middle of the back wall was a large control panel. Bright buttons flashed and beeped at them and the screen was pitch black. Small cracks laced the screen and a small box had been forced opened, obviously broken. Mark gently opened the box and peered inside. The wires had all been unplugged and thrown into the room. Mark was just about to plug one of them in but suddenly there was a loud bang behind them. Both boys spun around to look at what had made such a loud noise and as they had suspected, it was robots.

They were a lot smaller that jack had thought they would be. They didn't seem too threatening. However jack was wrong. They may be small but they were fast. Very fast. One darted around to get to mark but mark was quicker pulling out his dagger and managed to fight back. Jack pulled out his bow and reached for an arrow. Cautiously he got ready to shoot, confused at why the other five robots had stopped moving. From behind him he heard a high pitched screech and in the corner of his eye he watched sparks fly everywhere. Then mark asked, "you fight and I'll fix the machine?"
"Sure" jack answered in a monotone voice.
All his focus was on the robots in front of him. He pulled back the string and aimed for the smallest one. Ping. The arrow flew across the room and hit the back wall. He didn't miss, it would've hit the robot if I'd had stayed still but it dodged him. And then... all five robots launched at him.

As soon as jack realised what was happening he ran, the robots followed. He pulled out another arrow and shot at one, hitting it in its arm. The smallest one was way too fast. It grabbed onto jacks leg and scratched at it. It's cold, sharp, metal claws easily digging into his flesh. Jack yelped in surprise and pain but didn't stop fighting. He grabbed another arrow and slammed it into the robots head. Sparks flew everywhere and the robot let got, twitching on the floor. This time it was jacks turn to charge. He ran, trying not to put pressure on his injured leg. Leaping, he grabbed another robot, it scratched him slightly on his face but then stopped since jack had rammed the arrow into its body, breaking it. The last three robots looked up at jack. Beep. There was a high pitched noise then the robots eyes turned red.
"Jack quick, a doors open, i fixed the machine!" Mark yelled
In response, jack pushed past the robots and bolted down towards Mark. He quickly turned round and shot another arrow at them. A robot fell. Suddenly an arrow flew past him. Then another. The robots were shooting at him.

Mark could just see Jack now as he held the door open, ready to close it. He ran his hands through his hair, worried that Jack was hurt and hoping that he wasn't in too much pain. Thud. An arrow landed in front of him. He quickly grabbed it, keeping it for jack so he could use it later on. A few more had hit the door too, and mark grabbed them as well. Come on jack, he thought, you can do this.

Jack was on the floor. One robot was making its way to mark whilst the other was on top of him. He was surprised at how strong and heavy they were. He quickly fired an arrow at the one going for Mark, it fell. He then focused all his energy in the one on top of him. With all his strength he pushed it off him and got up, stumbling. Whilst running he crushed the robot he had shot at and and pulled the arrow out of its head. Finally he had reached the door, managing to dodge the arrows that we're being shot at him. He ran through the door and mark slammed it shut. The faint sounds of arrows being shot and their heavy breathing was all you could hear. They didn't speak. They didn't need to. The room changed to white, and they realised they were in the same room as they had started in.

In the middle of the room was a table, jack limped to it. On it were some bandages, a bit of food and water and a little note.

Well done for completing your first challenge. There will be many more to come so I have got a snack to revive some health and most of your energy. There are some bandages that will hopefully, slowly heal your wounds. Good luck, and remember, if you ever need me just say my name.

Jack smiled and took the bandages, slowly wrapping them around his leg.

Me: says they will try to keep to a schedule

Also me: fails horribly at their own statement

Yeah, sorry for that. I think I might just throw the schedule out the window. I'll try to get on up every week but if I can't/don't then I'm very sorry. I know hardly any people read this book but I kinda like it so I'll continue. Later on if I've got this book under control I might upload another one. But until that happens, vote and comment what you think of this story so far :)

Thanks for reading!
