Short Stories of Rayna

Football Player

Rayna was on my way to school with her stepdad. 

"These stupid people can't drive." she said. 

When Rayna got out of the car her dad says, "she thinks you're stupid."  Rayna was embarrassed and tried to walk quickly away. 

On the street there is a collision. Three cars hit each other. Not hard enough to cause major damage but enough to make you mad. These two buff football players and their moms get out and Rayna's stepdad are all yelling at each other. The two football players start pushing like they're gonna fight Rayna trys to break it up, "hey don't do that!" and start to walk a little ways down to them. They break it up. 

The guy, Rodney, is walking towards me. Rodney is very tall, with light brown eyes, dark skin and what most would call an award winning smile. 

Xavier, the other guy, yells out "yea go witcho lil girl friend. You whipped boy." 

Enunciation is a lost concept. Rayna thought 

Rodney walks up to Rayna and hugs her saying "pretend you're my girl for a bit and I'll pay you back later alright?" Rayna nods in agreement. 

Throughout the day Rayna is hearing all kinds of rumors about her and Rodney are dating. "As far as I know we are friends and he owes me one." She tells her friend Annette. 

"I heard he was going to ask you to the party tonight." Annette said poking playfully at Rayna. 

During her next class Rayna gets a text from Rodney. ' I'm sure you've heard all the rumors by now.' he says. 'of course.' she replies. 'So do you want to go to the party with me? I'm sure it'll be fun.' Rodney asks. Rayna agrees

Later that night he takes her to the party. Rodney has her at his hip as if she were his girl. Introducing her to his friends. 'what the hell ', she shot a side look at Annette.

Rodney hugs her and leaves her to start the party. As they hug her lips touch his neck softly. She knows he's smiling but doesn't look at him. The party gets started and drinks are flowing, everyone is having a great time.  

Rayna's sister,Cynthia, comes over with fire stuff for the fire eaters. It's a small house; she's just doing little tricks. This guy who thinks he knows everything walks up to her. How this guy kept getting invited to parties Rayna will never know. The guy, Kyle, starts talking to her about the dragons breath trick. Cynthia being a professional knows that it is dangerous.  Kyle pours the liquid into his mouth and blows a huge fire. When he does he hits a light fixture and it explodes. everyone is screaming and running away from the fire and the sparks popping from the light.  Annette being the quick thinker grabs a ladder and bottles of water and puts the fire out.

Rayna and Rodney stand by helping the people get out. The fire is out. Rayna rushes to Annette looking her over her arms and hands. "are you alright? did you get burned?"

Annette shakes her head but her forearms were scorched. Rayna asked Rodney to get cold wet towels. she sits her on the couch and looks for a first aid kit. Rodney returns with wet cloths. She presses lightly on the burns. Rayna watched her. Annette winced in more tender spots. Rodney put a layer of cocoa butter and wrapped her in gauze. Rayna hugged her, "I'm glad you're alright." Annette starts to cry; she was scared and in pain. 

Rayna turned to Rodney, " do you want help cleaning up?" He put a hand on her knee "It's an abandoned house it'll be fine. Let's go get some food." They smile.
