I'd like to thank everyone who read my book! This is a preview of the second book, which I will be writing after I write another fanfic I've been planning.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST CHAPTER JUST A SCENE FROM THE BOOK
Enjoy! And thanks again for reading!
Faren's POV
I dove into the locker room and slammed the door behind me, just escaping the clutches of the cyclops. I threw a few chairs to block the door so the cyclops couldn't barge in. I started looking around frantically for my silver bracelet. I threw open my locker and pulled out all my belongings.
Where is it? I thought frantically. I heard the cyclops slam its body against the door, trying to break it down. How much longer did I have until it came in here, or till the other one outside ate Rogue? I glanced around and started shaking out my jeans looking for my bracelet that could transform into my bow and quiver. I glanced over at the door. There was already a few cracks in the wood. Not much longer now...
A shiny piece of metal caught my eye. I looked over and picked it up frantically. A beautifully carved silver bracelet was in my hands. I willed it to turn into my silver bow and quiver, and it did so in the blink of the eye. I heard a few loud crashes and a groan coming from the gym. In confusion, a loaded my bow and pointed it at the door leading to the gym.
I didn't hear anybody slamming against the door, trying to get in. I cautiously approached the door, and then took the chairs away from the door and threw the door open. I jumped and rolled into the gym, just how I was taught at camp.
The gym was basically rubble. The bleachers were torn up and thrown about, the school banners had fallen and gotten shredded, students were running about, and there were dents in the gym floor. I sighed. I had probably just gotten myself expelled for the second time in my life.
But the two cyclops were gone. There was a pile of monster dust at my feet by the door leading into the locker room.
I glanced over at Rogue. She looked surprised, and the black smoke was still surrounding her, giving an eerie look to all of the mess. I saw someone standing beside her, their arms folded and a bronze dagger in their hands.
As I studied the person closer, I realized who it was. The choppy red hair sort of gave it away, along with the orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt.
"Cindy?" I asked running over towards her. I wisely avoided the black smoke.
"Seriously, one whole summer and not a single Iris message?" She asked annoyed.
"Who is this? What's an Iris message? What was with the cyclopses?" Rogue asked, for once not looking very confident. She glared a little at Cindy.
"Uh, Cindy, this is Rogue. Rogue, this is Cindy." I said a little awkwardly.
"I could have handled that cyclops myself you know." Rogue muttered a little pointedly at Cindy.
"Like you had it under control!" Cindy exclaimed angrily. "When I showed up you were cowering in the corner!"
"Yeah, but the smoke I summoned seemed to scare it." She hissed back, her cheeks flushing a little.
"But if it weren't for me you would have—"
"Shut up, both of you!" I yelled. I heard my fellow classmates running or crying a little bit in the distance. The two of my friends shut their mouths but glared at each other.
"It's obvious Rogue's a demigod." I said to Cindy in a calm voice. "We'll have to take her to camp."
"Don't talk to each other like I'm not here!" Rogue shouted angrily. "What on earth is this camp you are talking about?"
"So you know what a demigod is?" I asked blankly.
"Of course, Mr. Edward's mentioned that term at least fifty times in history class. But the gods can't be real, can they?"
"Of course they're real." Cindy said rolling her eyes. "Now, we must hurry to camp."
I didn't like that Rogue and Cindy were fighting. They were both my friends. "Cindy," I said a little cautiously, "What's wrong? You sound a little stressed and on edge."
Cindy sighed. "That's why we've got to go. And not just because the police will be here any minute. I need to show you something, Faren." She grabbed my arm and beckoned Rogue to follow as we started running out the door.
"What?" I asked. Rogue listened curiously, jogging beside us.
Cindy glanced at me but then faced forward again. Her hazel eyes showed some pity, probably for me.
"It's Thἀvma, Faren. There's something wrong with her."
