Chapter Two

Abrupt knocking at the door results in me shooting up from my slumber and widening my eyes in shock. I close my eyes, attempting to ignore them but they don't seem to be leaving which leaves me sighing and swinging my legs off of the bed and onto the cold wooden floor. I shiver once I leave the warmth of my bed, the chilly air viciously biting at my skin. While walking to the door, it feeling like a mile long tremble, I glance at the clock reading 8:00 in the morning, who on earth calls on someone at this time! You see, being a person with a more normally average job that time is certainly more acceptable. However, when you're a YouTuber a casual sleeping pattern is out of the question. I open the door with a shallow growl, only to be greeted with two arms holding me in their embrace. At first, I squeal in fear but stop when Liam's face comes into view when he pulls away looking genuinely more startled than me.

"Are you okay?" He asks with a small giggle, holding his hand to his chest.

"Yeah," I smile. "You just shocked me." I pull him in for another hug; this time less squealing involved.

"So, I know it's early for you but I couldn't wait to tell you my news and besides, what harm is it to wake up a little earlier?" He grins.

"Every bit of harm," I respond but continue to listen to him anyway.

"Okay. So I know you love Edinburgh which leads onto my next point, I booked us a room there for the weekend which means we can drive out Friday." I grin with equivalent excitement, however, it soon fades when the realisation of my Friday plans sets in. My only chance to meet Joe is then. I don't want to reschedule and waste his time, even though he'd most likely be understanding. "What is it?" He suddenly asks me, noticing the disappointed frown now painted onto my face.

"I really want to come--"

"But you can't." He sighs, cutting me off quickly.

"I made plans with someone and I don't know if they can reschedule..." I explain to him with a guilty tone.

"It's okay, I get it."

"I'm so sorry." I frown, placing my hand on his arm which he soon shrugs off lightly, causing a pang of pain to spring towards my heart.

"Don't be, just do what you had to do. I have to go to work, I'm going to be late. Love you." And with that, he leaves.

"Love you too," I call after him, looking down the ground with shame. The worst part about that entire conversation wasn't explaining I couldn't go, it was that I know he never works on Wednesdays.

My emotions for the entirety of the day consisted of guilt, sadness and anger. I feel selfish, cancelling plans someone had made for me just because I wanted to meet with someone I don't even know for my own happiness. My life has always been about making others happy, it's what brings me joy and now I've done the complete opposite of everything I try to do. Sighing, I pause the show that plays on my TV and type a quick message to Liam:

Y/N:

Hey, I'm really sorry that I can't come this weekend, can we go on another?

Liam:

You don't need to be sorry, it's only fair you continue with your original plans. We could go in a few months time when I get the money again?

I stare at the message with complete bafflement, of course, it had to be this way. The guilt bubbles up even more at the thought of him not being able to get his money back--it's my fault.

Y/N:

Can't you get the money back?

Liam:

No.

A small pang of pain hits me when all I get is a cold one-word answer, Liam has never been like this with me. Ignoring it though, I try to think positively and come up with a way this won't be wasted.

Y/N:

How about you take Ryan with you? That way your money isn't being wasted and you'll still be having fun :)

Liam:

Sure.

I read through the message, looking at it blankly while not bothering with a reply. So, I lock my phone and sigh; ending it with that.
