A New Era

Only about a hundred years had passed since Kallorah was made goddess of Thee, and Yeshon and Naeva were dabbling in magic. They traveled the world, learning as much as they could and documenting much of their findings, creating the first tomes in history.

At the same time, the other ten Archegina were dabbling in the art of language. Each wanted to be different from the other, and prayed to Kallorah for diversity. She responded by giving them what they wanted; new languages to speak in. At first, Gengoro had only spoken language gifted by the goddess.

So they stole the written one Shî made.

Twice.

Everyone else was content, most kept their old way of writing, with the English alphabet and various accented vowels we use today. But Furve received no new language. This was a punishment for causing trouble in Yorobi and extending the war for longer than it should have lasted.

Furve was furious. Leonhardt had accepted this, and tried to placate his wife, but she had already begun to go mad. The Fated Ones came to Furverba to learn about its culture and life, and were found in a forest by the Royal Guard. They were brought to the monarchs, who asked about their arcane power. Naeva was happy to share, but Yeshon did not want the Queen to gain such a dangerous and versatile ability; there was a great chance that she would cause a global war again, and return Thee to the Bloody Ages. He warned that great responsibility and care must balance with the power of magic. Leonhardt promised to keep his crazed wife out of trouble.

The other nine Archegina were discovering their own magical abilities while Naeva and Yeshon taught Furberba how to use magic and channel Mana. Each developed unique and unprecedented culture around the abilities they pursued greatness in.

Antiquis learned on his own how to perform magic, and excelled in herbs and medicine. His country had the most efficient healers and mages on Thee, and they praised Kallorah for their prosperity. The first healing mages and herb mages were born.

Piccan was known as the Father of Music, and while he hadn't invented any instruments, he wrote basic music theory; solfege, keys, time signatures, clefs, and how to count notes. These were spread through his country, and eventually, bards carried music theory across the world. Piccan, while playing music on a lute one day, found out how to use magic, and channel it through the instrument. Bards followed this and now use the magic of music, there are no bards who cannot use magic. They have become known as a class of mage themselves.

Amora found her magic in culinary arts; food, where Mana is found most easily, is one of the best sources of Mana restoration. Amouran became the country of culinary magic, and perfected taste and Mana output of food. Travellers use many of the Mana preservation techniques created by Amourans. While there are no culinary mages, they revolutionized food.

Fiestaro loved food, so he took these techniques and tried to apply them to the source of Mana directly, while the plant or animal was still growing. This is similar to genetically modifying an organism, but requires no DNA to be to touched, nor does the enhancement hurt the plant, if done correctly. The Fiestarosi perfected plant and animal care, and grew so close to animals that they became the first shapeshifting mages. They understood an animal's whole being, the way it uses Mana, the frequency range of each species' Mana, and therefore were able to become the animals for a short period of time. Most people in present-day Thee call these mages Furry Mages, regardless of what animals they can morph into.

Gengoro was busy with a newfound stone called Vitrum. Antiquissima had actually discovered the stone, and found it perfect for things that we use glass for. It was much less time consuming to shape Vitrum rather than crafting glass; this is because Vitrum responds to Manaflow directly, while glass actually blocks it out. Gengo and his people created the first functioning communication devices with Vitrum, though they were quite large. They now have the largest and most efficient Vitrum device factories on the planet. Mages of Gengoro are generally known as Mana Manipulators, because they control the flow of magic from one point to another.

Meanwhile, Shîzûs were dabbling in visual arts and dance. They used Mana to put an emotional impact into their ink paintings, and changed their Mana wavelengths to match that of everyone in the audience, but still keeping a coordinated frequency while they dance. Shîzûs mastered the visual arts this way, and though they were technically Mana Manipulators, they were labelled Mana Artists.

Khortakun were having a difficult time trying to master any sort of magic, so they dabbled in the Elements instead. They experimented with fire, water, earth, and air, but their research was heavily lacking; they had not discovered the elements of order and chaos that give many properties to organic and inorganic compounds found on Thee. When they finally did, they created a table of elements. It is vastly different than our table of elements; it has the six primary elements in a circle and then each secondary and even tertiary element branching off from there. They made understanding the composition of Thee so much easier. Khortakun are known now as Elementals, and are skilled in manipulating the core four elements; order and chaos can not be controlled.

Verär and her country were having a hard time learning how to use magic, being people of physical strength. They did not want to ask the Fated Ones for help, and look weak, however. They went out into the harsh wilderness where the Kofiprosid were found, and trained their Manaflow. Kallorah saw them resort to nature's guidance, but did not want to interfere until they humbled themselves and asked her personally. They did not. The Verärgera had not gotten very far in their search for magical enhancement before they grew frustrated and began to lash out. Many punched trees and such; and unleashed a burst of Mana, knocking down their "victims."

This gave them hope... But did not settle their rage. Now they could use basic Force magic, but were still sour about not having their own magical specialty. This caused their magic, lacking as it was, to turn dark and cold.

The first snow fell on Thee. Moguyu began to spread as the Verärgera tried to escape it. This new unknown was frightening to even the toughest Archegina. The Fated Ones went to Mother Kallorah to ask her guidance; "We need new Archegina, from my home planet," she replied. She left Thee to appear in the dreams of five Earthlings.

To each she said, "My name is Kallorah, goddess of the planet Thee. We need your help. We will enter another state of war, and the planet will freeze over with darkness. Will you please give me permission to warp you through space so you can save my world?"

Each replied, "Why me? I have not the skills for such a quest, for I am a simple peasant. The only experience I have in any sort of this work is to hear it happen." Kallorah laughed at this. She knew the times on Earth were dangerous, with the Crusades, but having died in 1017, she did not fully understand what had happened in the past two centuries.

"This is why you are perfect; you have experience. Even if you had none, you are an original from this world, no copy exists of you on any planet in any universe. You are chosen for this," she reassured them. They were touched, and asked if they could say goodbye to their families and friends; gracious and benevolent, Kallorah agreed. She gave them an Earth week to prepare for the warp, to say goodbye, and to hone their skills for the coming of the Theean Dark Age.
