I don't remember much at all. I can't remember anything from my past, the person I was before I found myself where I am today. It was the middle of the night and I was in the woods outside a small town. I figured I had been walking for days maybe by the numb sore feeling in my legs. It was dark and quiet except for the shuffle of leaves here and there. I hoped I could find the road quickly that thought was put on the backburner when I saw a blur swiftly run across the forest floor making a crack sound as it landed on a stick. My breath quickened and my heart beat raced in fright.

"Hello?" I called out like an idiot thinking whatever is out there is just going to answer me and explained the misunderstanding. I quickly walked forward looking for a light in the darkness that could lead me to the town; a gust of wind rushed past me and in a quick second I felt something hard on top of me clawing at my flesh. I screamed for my life but my vocal cord was sliced by what seemed like a large sharp claw. The animal-like creature climbed off of me and left me there bleeding out to what seem like slowly dying. I didn't want to die; not as a sixteen-year-old Jane Doe laying dead in the woods with no memories at all.

I gathered all my strength and crawled across the forest floor, holding the palm of my hand to the cut across my throat. I soon realized how close to the road I was and stood up limping toward the road. I coughed up blood and fell to the cold wet pavement, not able to move any longer, the blood still pouring from my body. I tried to cry out but it was no use.

"Sweetie! Are you okay? What happened?" I heard a voice behind me. A person of stature grabbed me and flipped me over. "Call 9-1-1" they commanded as I blacked out from blood loss.

I woke up in a white room with people all around me yelling in code as they tried to help me but I knew it was too late. I was done for and they couldn't help that. I was breathing but very lightly; the doctors talked about monitoring me but I knew I was done. A voice on the intercom called for a code blue and they left me except for one; a young pale blonde haired doctor stood over me.

"Help-" I whispered out. The doctor frowned.

"I'm sorry. This is going to hurt." He told me. I nodded and accepted my death but then he did something I didn't expect. He bared his teeth and leaned over biting down on my shoulder. I launched forward but then I heard 'Don't struggle' in my mind and calmed down as a hot burning sensation filled my body and I blacked out for what felt like only a moment.

I was legally dead. The young doctor took me to his home and monitored me for three days in his home study. I screamed from pain ever so often but then the pain became quite numb, I must be used to such a pain. I felt my body changing and after three days I woke up. The doctor wasn't in the room at that moment so I just took my time sitting up and examining what was around me. There were so many thoughts in my head and I felt weird. My body was stiff against the metal table, my skin tight and everything felt different. I felt so thirsty I thought I was going to die. My body was moving in different ways and I could hear the steps of the young doctor before he even entered the room. I, in one swift motion, moved faster than I ever thought was possible and stood in front of the doctor as he opened the door. He looked at me and smiled.

"You feeling well?" he asked me, taking me by the arm and pulling me toward his desk.

"I feel fine." I told him, monotone. He had tools on his desk and used them to check my reflexes in my arms and legs. He flashed a light in my eyes that did not faze me at all and he looked at my teeth but as he opened my mouth I felt a difference in my mouth. The doctor hit my canine with a mental object that should have hurt but for some reason my teeth were so much stronger and it didn't bother me one bit.

"What is your name?" he asked me, letting go of my mouth and looking down at me since he is a tall twenty-something-year-old man while I'm a short sixteen-year-old girl.

"Poppet." I told him with an attitude in my voice as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"I am Carlisle Cullen. Now Poppet, what do you remember from the past seventy-two hours?" Carlisle asked me, sitting down in his desk car as I took a seat back on the metal table.

"I remember being in the hospital. I remember knowing I was going to die but you did something to me which must have saved my life. I remember what I saw of the attack. I was mauled by some kind of large animal but I have no memories of before. My memory starts with me walking in the woods. I don't know how I got there or who I was before all I remember is my name." I explained to him. "What happened to me? I thought for sure I was going to die. There was so much blood and even my throat was cut." I asked, panicky as I reached up and felt no scar on my neck.

"Poppy, you were dead. You died. Do you remember what I did to you in the hospital?" he asked me trying his best to explain the situation to me.

"You bit me." I told him, thinking I sounded crazy.

"Correct. You feel different, right? Your body is moving at superhuman rates. Your teeth are harder and heavier in your mouth." he asked, I just nodded listening to him speak. "Feel this." He told me taking my hand and pressing it to my chest where my heart is but the weird thing was I didn't feel the thump of my heartbeat or even the expanding of my chest. I took my hand away and placed two fingers to my neck like you learn in health class but I couldn't find a pulse. I tried my wrist but I got nothing.

"What am I?" I asked completely confused and in shock.

"You are like me, a vampire." Carlisle said in short syllables. "Don't be scared." he said hoping to calm me but I was just in shock. "I couldn't let you die. I don't know why but I couldn't so I changed you." He explained but not well because he was confused himself. I couldn't speak I just listened. "You are a vampire now and you have the freedom to leave but I would like you to stay here with my family and I. They can help you with your new lifestyle and give you a place to stay." Carlisle told me. "The way you are now is quite dangerous if not controlled, staying with us I could help you control your impulses." He told me, I just nodded and thought for a moment.

"You saved my life?" I asked, trying to collect my thoughts. "You gave me immortality?" I added. Carlisle nodded. I stood up and looked down at Carlisle. "I am in your debt. Just let me know what I can do to repay it to you." I said with a sweet smile. I owe this man my life. Carlisle chuckled and stood up ruffling my white blonde hair that seemed snow white after the change but my skin was also paler.

"Not necessary. You are now a part of this family." He told me giving me a hug. Poppy Cullen? I think this is exactly where I am supposed to be.

A/N: Okay first chapter is done (: I hope you like it. I wrote this story a long time ago on a different website I use to write on for years but I was younger when I wrote this it wasn't the best and could use some fixing so here I am. I am re-writing this story, trying to fix plot holes and all that jazz.
