****Five months later****

***Ling er's POV***

I sat on the couch with a bowl of ice cream rested on my now huge stomach. Today is the day Xiao Kai and I would be finding out the gender of the baby. I watched as he fumbled through parenting magazines, looking up ways to properly change a diaper, give a bath, all that baby stuff.

"What time is the appointment?" he asked for about the fifth time. I rolled my eyes and giggled. I can't understand why he's so nervous about this.

"2:30, so in about an hour."

"Should we start going now?"

"Sweetheart, we live, like, ten minutes away from the hospital. We'll go in about forty-five minutes, okay?" I laughed.

"Ling er, I don't want to be late. We cannot miss this appointment."

"My dear Xiao Kai, we are not going to miss it. Just breathe, we'll be fine. "

"How are you not nervous?"

"I don't know, I'm just not." he sighed, and looked down at the magazine.

"What if I'm not gonna be a good dad?"

I sighed, and got off the couch, sitting next to him at the dining room table.

"Baby, please don't start with that again. You're going to be amazing, okay? Besides, this is your first time, it's not like you're expected to be a professional or anything. Just be the wonderful, kind person you are, and you'll be fine." he sighed and nodded, giving me a soft peck on the lips.

"I love your pep talks."

"And I love giving them."

"I love you."

"And I love you too." he gave me another kiss, and got up, taking the magazines with him.

We arrived at the hospital hand in hand. I looked over at Xiao Kai a couple times, and saw he was a nervous wreck. His palms were sweaty. I gave him a light, reassuring squeeze, and rested my head on his shoulder.

"So what do you want it to be?" I asked, breaking the silence

"I'm not sure. A boy would be nice, but so would a girl." he sighed. "How about you?"

"I want a boy. I don't want to have to deal with all the girl drama." I laughed

"Says the girl." he poked my side.

"There's a difference, Xiao Kai. You'll just never understand 'cause you're a boy." I stuck my tongue out.

"Mr. and Mrs. Wang?" the nurse called from the doorway. I felt Xiao Kai squeeze my hand, and I squeezed back. The nurse motioned us to follow her, and she led us into a room with a whole bunch of different machines. "Mrs. Wang, if you could just lay down over there, the doctor will be right with you." she smiled and walked out of the room. I laid down on the examination table, and Xiao Kai sat in the chair next to it, taking my hand in his.

"Are you nervous?" he asked.

"I'm getting there."

"Whatever the gender is, I'll be happy I made it with you." he smiled, kissing my knuckles. I blushed at his comment, and leaned down, kissing his forehead.

"Alright, Mr. and Mrs. Wang, you two excited to know what you're having?" the doctor asked as he walked in. Kaikai and I both laughed, and nodded. The doctor spread a cold jelly-like substance on my stomach, and turned on the ultrasound machine. He stared at the screen or a few seconds before turning back to us with a smile.

"You ready to know the gender?" he asked.

"Ready."
