2 - Keep On Living

*****2 days later****

**Junkai's POV***

I haven't heard any word from Ling er, let alone, anyone. These last two days have been rough.

"Mr. Wang, you have a call." a guard told me. I practically leaped off my feet, and made my way to the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey Karry the stupid Cat, why are you so stupid? I told you not to do anything stupid, but that's exactly what you do!"

"Listen Meizi, what do you expect me to do? Just let my wife suffer? I'm sure you've noticed how traumatized she's been. I wanted to help her, okay?"

"Xiao Kai, I get it, but Ling er has been over my house bawling her eyes out nonstop. She's scared for you. She thinks you're hurt, or you're gonna be in jail for a long time. I know you tried to make things better, but you only made things worse. She's barely even gotten out of bed, and I can hardly get her to eat anything. " I rested my head on the wall

"She-she hasn't hurt herself, right?" I dreaded the answer

"No, gladly. But I'm afraid she'll relapse soon. Which is why I'm bailing you out today. For her sake." I let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you so much, Meizi. Will Ling er be with you?"

"If I can get her out of bed..." I bit my lip, and sighed.

"Please, try." she agreed, and hung up. I put my head in my hands, and let out a long sigh.

***Meizi's POV***

"Come on, Ling er. You haven't even moved, or eaten anything in the past three days! You're gonna make yourself sick. Now come with me to get your husband out of jail."

"What if he's hurt?! My dad's a monster. I'm sure he hurt him so badly." she cried.

"Ling er, honey. I just spoke to him twenty minutes ago! He sounded perfectly fine. Now we need to go before it gets too late."

"I can't believe Xiao Kai would go to jail over something so stupid like me."

"Ling er, that's just nonsense. He loves you with everything he's got. He'd do anything for you. Now your husband wants to see you, and I think you really need to see him too." I was right, and she knew it. She gave me the death glare, and got herself out of bed, finally. I let her get dressed, and went into the living room to check on Qifei and Qian Xi.

"How are my two favorite boys doing?" I sat on Qian Xi's lap.

"We're doing just fine. You're going to get our little convict out of jail?"

I playfully hit his arm.

"Shh, don't let Ling er hear you say that, or she'll start bawling." he sighed and rubbed his forehead.

"You better go soon, or else you'll have to wait till tomorrow." I sighed and got off his lap.

"Huang Ling er, get your butt out here. We gotta go retrieve your knight." she dragged her feet as she walked

"My stupid, idiot knight..." I sighed and dragged her to the car by her sleeve.

"He better be prepared to hear it. I need to make a long speech. If he thinks I'm gonna be about all lovey dovey things then he's totally wrong."

"Ling er, don't be so hard on that boy! He did it for you. Don't forget that."

"But he doesn't have to be so stupid. He's getting himself hurt, and thrown in jail!"

"All for you..." I mumbled. She sighed and rested her head on the car seat.

"It'll be okay, I promise." I smiled

***Ling er's POV***

I slowly walked through the jail, trying to find a guard. My phone buzzed. It was Meizi

-Ling er, where are you? One minute you're with me. The next you're gone. I got Xiao Kai, come on let's get out of here.-

-I'll catch up with you guys in a bit. I'll meet you by the car.-

-Ling er what are you doing?-

-I'll tell you later- I shut my phone off. I didn't need any distractions

"Hello Miss how may I help you?" It was the same guard that was checking me out the other night. Great.

"Uhm, I'm visiting Huang Li Tong."

"Alright, Miss, follow me." he led me to his cell. I immediately got the chills. "You have fifteen minutes." he smiled

"If it isn't the weak shit crawling back." he grinned. I gulped.

"I'm not crawling back. I'll never crawl back to a monster you." I spat

"You better watch your tongue you little-." he clenched his fists. I felt my body tense up.

"I just came to tell you something." I paused. He didn't say anything so I continued. "I know you don't care, but I'm gonna make you hear it anyway. You ruined my life. I'm mentally wreked now, because of you. I want you to know that you deserve to be in jail. You deserve all the things you're gonna get. You know why? 'Cause you're an awful human being." He started gritting his teeth, so I backed away. "Why? Why do you hate me so much? W-What have I ever done to you?"

"You were born, and you made my wife gone!" he screamed, causing me to jump.

"Because I was born? But I couldn't control that! That's your fault! And I made mom gone? That's nonsense"

"You ruined my life, Ling er. You don't understand, but you ruined my life..."

"H-How? I was a baby!"

"Your mother wasn't always the way she was before she's dead. She wasn't always druggie. When she gave birth to you, she almost died. So the doctors put her on this drug to help her with the pain. She soon got addicted, and wasn't stable. She couldn't even focus on everyday life. She couldn't even drive. But then she insisted on driving, got out of control and her car slipped. She was the way she was because of your birth. You're responsible for the condition of my wife. I will always hate you for that." I nodded my head, and turned around. That was all I needed to know. I finally got the closure I needed. I know he'll always hate me. But at least I now know why. I headed back to the car, with tears in my eyes. I know Xiao Kai will definitely question, so I tried my best to wipe them away.

I arrived and met Xiao Kai.

"Ling er, before you say anything, I just want to apologize. I know I was stupid for trying to fight him, but I couldn't help myself. He was putting you through so much, it killed me. I'm sorry though." he held me in his arms. Maybe I was over reacting. I sighed and hugged him back. I just can't stay mad at him.

"I-It's okay, babe. Just try not to be such an idiot sometimes." I laid my head in his chest. "I see he busted your lip." I frowned

"Yeah, but I'm fine. Just a little cut, that's all."

"Do you mind explaining what took you so long?" Meizi demanded. I explained my dad's crazy theory. Kaikai shook his head.

"Crazy." he sighed

"Yeah, but it's over now. I just wanted an answer, and I got one. It may not be the answer I wanted, but it's still an answer." I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"Alright, enough of this sad stuff. Who's up for pizza?!" Meizi screamed. Xiao Kai and I chuckled and raised our hands. Meizi sped up the car, and we headed for pizza.
