Chapter One: The Plan

~•Saturday Morning•~

~•Raina•~

I'm sitting on a chair by my windowsill looking out to the meadow. Wishing that I could go out there.

"Rainalie, come down its time for breakfast!" My Step-Mother calls from down the steps.

I sigh and walk carefully down the steps so I don't trip in my heels. Once I reach the 8ft long table, my family is already eating without me. I take a seat and begin to eat my oatmeal.

"So honey, I was thinking that after this we could go shopping for dresses? Have them fitted and all?" My step-mother asks carefully watching me eat.

"Um actually Mom I was going to practice my um my... Clarinet." I lie.

"Clarinet? You don't have a Clarinet." My "twin" brother tells Mother.

"Oh yes, thats right. Well since you don't want to go shopping and get out of the castle for once, you can stay in your room for the rest of the day." Mother got up from the table and quickly stomped away form the dining room.

"Why did you do that?!" I whip my head to my brother, Brian.

"Hey, I know you want to escape, go see the world. I'm here to help. You can't plan a plan while trying on dresses, can you?" He whispers.

"No, I guess you're right." I shake my head.

"OK well you can't tell anybody this but I want to escape too."

"Really? You?" I question

"Yes really, I hate that we have to stay inside the rest of our life's for no good reason." He stands up and begins to walk away.

"Oh and Raina, 10:30 garden."

I am confused by what he means but I think he means meet him at the garden at 10:30. That is what I will do.

~•10:30 that night•~

I walk out of my room and walk stealth like down the stairs.

I see the doors that lead to the garden. There is a guard there.

'Now what do I do?' I think to myself.

I find a ball near me and throw it at the pictures on the wall opposite from the guard. The picture shader on the ground. The guard quickly leaves his post to go inspect. I run to the door and slowly open it to make sure it doesn't creek. I run out the door to the garden.

"What took you so long?" My sister teases me. I turn around to see her brushing her finger through her long blonde hair.

I smile and sit by her on a stone bench.

"So wise brother whats the plan?" She asks.

"Well I'm going first." I tell her. She looks at me with a confused face. "Because if the guards see me they'll all run after me, so then you'll run and Ill catch up to you after."

"But what if they catch you?" She chokes out.

"Then you go withou-"

"No! I will not leave without you!" She whispers loudly.

"Its either both of us, or on-"

"DON'T even say that." She snaps.

"Well then, I'll see you at midnight." I stand up and begin to walk away.

"See you at midnight." I hear her sigh.
