"Thanks, Sir! There.. elevator was taking time," Piya slobbered at him.
My ears were pushed to the limit by her little words. I knew perfectly well who she wanted in her life and now that she was gushing over the boss, I couldn't think of anything to bring her back to senses or well, simply shut her down myself. I had made up so many arguments on why she shouldn't behave as such. After all, she was pursuing Abeer and I felt she was betraying him by inclining toward this new guy. And then I also thought about how I wasn't supposed to make such an allegation in my state of mind which was a literal mess in the head. It was a no-go nonetheless. But why? Insecurities, now that I know.
But I wanted silence. Complete silence to think of the elements. To churn up my brain to the point of exhaustion rather than being in the moment. My brain was blocked with stuff I always tried to drain away. But feeling attached and then let loose was taking charge at the moment because the man in front of me seemed beautiful and... What a lame idea! People believing this shit often turn up like me. Life offers us things to jumble up already the worst scenarios, I thought. In my case probably I would misguide myself even more.
" No problem. "
Shut up!
Why the man I crash into has to be my boss?
His soothing yet confident voice kept ringing in my ears and I wanted to hear him some more. Wasn't it just 'No problem' that he said and you liked it? Do you want to hear it again, Arshita? How lame do you have to be? Utter madness. You with Piya are doomed.
I shot my glance at him in disdain as if my feelings would change. It didn't. I softened a bit and then that made me feel like vomiting. His deep and brown eyes watched me back in amusement. They were dancing with the sparkle that I wanted to ignore but couldn't. I felt like a child after a sparkle. Stupid stuff. And I wondered why was I staring at him like that. I didn't know what expressions my face had held but it fettered him more to it. He just gazed at me with amusement.
Crazy woman. I looked a little down to see his lips turned into a smile. Smirk it is, that I should hate. But I was being pulled to this man without even knowing him and for what? It was Ronit whom I knew by heart like a sacred book and loved immensely but the mere touch of this man and the manly voice of his was tugging me towards him. How can it be love? Nope, desperation. Am I this ugly and desperate now?
In my momentary lapse, I felt someone hit my arm rather roughly and it was Piya asking for a death sentence but luckily for her, I was engrossed in other things. I sorted some time out from gazing at this consuming man to warn Piya only to discover her at ease while standing in front of the Lord of the Empire. Here I was freaking out inside. Or fumbling with my senses exactly. Over this stranger.
This man saved me from falling and hurting myself that day but now I was paving a greater fall. To fall in love.
Cryptic. Ronit left you. He ditched you for luxury and you have the audacity of using such gory words - love, falling, smile, beautiful. No wonder, you were robbed of them all, Arshita.
He made me feel like Ronit did. I foresaw things that would part us. Because if he is like Ronit, he would break me again. Tear me apart.
Break. Why in the hell do I think this man would want anything with me? Attraction makes you stupid evidently.
