"Leave her Alone!"
Another fireball was sent Frost's way, nearly hitting Zoey. It again missed, but it was close enough to send the blue eyed boy running. As he disappeared, Zoey's savior finally came to a stop next to her. "Are... You.. Okay...?" He managed to get out. Zoey looked at the boy.
She couldn't see his face because he had his hands on his knees and his face turned away from her. She could make out the general picture, though.
He had black hair and, from what Zoey could see, pale skin. He was clad in a red T-shirt, black skinny jeans, combat boots and had many bracelets adorning his wrist and mid arm.
'O-Oh no... Is that...?"
He looked up at her.
'It is!'
"Oh, hey Zoey," David said, smiling lightly. "Sorry for being such a douche yesterday. One of those days, y'know."
She nodded slowly, not sure what to do.
"Who was that guy?" He talked so casually. It was like a normal conversation. Zoey did NOT like it.
"Were you the one who... Used the fire magic? And do you know if he saw your face?" Her stutter faded for a brief moment. "H-have you a-always been a-able to d-do t-t-hat?" And it was back.
"Uh... yes, I was the one who through the fireball. No, I don't know. No, no I have not always been able to do that."
David stood up straight, facing her. Zoey then noticed the rip on his right sleeve. She could see his Fire Magic Worker tattoo. Or symbol. Whatever you want to call it. It was pretty. It looked like a fire that was shaped like a flower. In other words, a Firelilly.
When David caught her gaze, he was quick to try and cover up his shoulder. Then he saw hers. Davids hand dropped from its perch on his shoulder and reached out to touch hers.
She let him. Normally, she would have flinched back and coward away, but Zoey couldn't do that now.
She was skillfully trained on how to deal with people who just found out about their powers. And the most important thing with them is to get them to trust you.
And what David was doing, in a way, was asking for acceptance.
"Are you like me?" He asked, tracing the outer design with his index finger.
"Sort of. I'm not a Fire Worker like you are. But I do work with magic."
"What kind."
She hesitated for second. 'Should I tell him...?' Zoey knew she should. But did she want to? No. Did she have to? Yes.
"I... I work with black magic."
He looked at her, eyes wide. "N-no! Not human black magic. Human's get Death Magic Workers and Black Magic Workers mixed up. Though ours are similar, I don't kill people. And I was born with my magic. Death Workers aren't, usually their parents do that to them." She explained in a hurry. She was surprised that she didn't stutter.
"Oh." He still looked scared but seemed to understand.
"I-I can t-take you h-home with me. W-we can t-talk then."
"Sounds good."
