"Take it," She whispered. David put both of his hands under hers as she let go of the tiny gray flicker. David expected it to be hot, or maybe cold. It had the shape of a flame; so, Hot. And it had the color of something unpleasant; so, Cold.

Or just confusing. That works too.

But, it didn't produce anything. It only tickled when the base of the flame rippled and hit his skin.

C.J. sat there staring at the two with wide eyes. He honestly thought this was all a joke.

Zoey turned back to the screen-like thing she had created.

"Listen closely," She announced. She pointed her index finger at the screen. There was a small purple spark. And then many crackling noises followed. A bright flash of light spread across the room, before all shrinking and going back to her finger. And with that, she began writing.

"Magic is not to be taken lightly, it's a gift. David, because you were not born in a magic family, this journey is going to be long and hard. Luckily, you have both me and my aunts. We will help you; //if// you are willing to learn.

C.J., you have to keep anything and everything we tell you a secret. Now, take notes.

There are five types of magic;

Water Magic, Fire magic -That's you, David-, Green Magic -AKA Earth Magic -, Death Magic and, my kind of magic; Black magic."

While she listed the magics, she drew the symbols for them.

Water Magic was a spiral that was colored blue on the inside. Fire Magic was a (literal) Fire-Lilly. Green Magic was a pink flower with four vines like things coming off it, with curly tips. Death Magic was a skull that had black and dark purple flames behind it.

Black Magic was a red (cartoon) heart with a white chain and padlock around the middle of it. In the middle of the lock was another cartoony heart.

"Now, most magic is pretty self-explanatory, Green magic controls the earth, Water magic controls water... blah blah blah.

But, Black Magic and Death magic get mixed up a lot.

You see, I was born with my magic. But Death Magic Workers were not born with any magic. Usually, Death Magic kids have magical parents, and it's frowned upon not to have a magic child. So, the parents will perform a ritual on their kids. They hope the kids will get a good kind of magic. But sometimes they don't. Sometimes the get Death Magic. If their child gets this kind of magic, they usually disown them. Other times, parents will not take any action; They just let their child be magic-less. Usually, these kids will curse themselves.

All very heartbreaking.

Anyways, both Black Magic and Death Magic are rare. At the moment, As far as we know, There are only 100 Death Magic Workers..." She trailed off, not wanting to tell them how many Black Magic Workers were left.

"What about Death Magic? How many of them." C.J. asked.

"O-One," She whispered. "I'm the only one."

Silence fell upon the room. It was so thick, you could cut through it like butter.

Zoey cleared her throat and squared her shoulders.

"Anyways, each Magic Worker has their own clan. We'll go on a little tour of the clans during summer break." She said, pretending that nothing happened; That she hadn't just told them one of her biggest insecurities and fear. And she had many fears.

"Also-"

Before she could continue, the front door flung open. Creating a loud bang, and probably a hole in the wall.

"Stay here. I'll be back." Zoey said, her brows knitting together. She snapped her fingers and the lights came back on, blinding them.

As Zoey was about to walk downstairs, heavy footsteps echoed up the spiral staircase. Her eyes widened and she turned around, running back over to the boys. She grabbed both of them and pushed them off the couch. She slid it out of the way and flung open her huge window.

"Come here!" She yelled at the boys on the floor, just as what looked like the front leg of an oversized lizard. As she saw that they were making no move, she groaned and conjured up some magic into a little ball and shot it towards the lizard like thing that was quickly making it's way towards them.

"Move will you!!" She screamed, pointing towards the window. They jumped up from off the ground, snapping out of their daze.

They got to her side and looked out of the open window... and then down. "You want us to jump this?! Are you crazy?!"

"Yes, yes I am!"

And with that, she pushed them out, jumping with them.

Zoey mumbled some words and then squinted her eyes closed. The boys followed suit, clinging to each other. Over the screaming of the wind, both David and C.J. heard her say the words: "Portal, open now."

Next thing they know, it all goes dark.
