THE FINAL BELL RANG LOUDLY THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL.
Zoey and David shared a look, before both getting and filling out the classroom with the rest of the students.
As the two walked out the school together and were about to push open the gates of the school, someone called Davids name. He looked back at the person.
'Please don't call them over. Please don't call them over. Please don't ca-'
"Hey, dude! Come here!"
'And you called them over.'
The person came up to the two of them, smiling. He had blonde hair, brownish skin, chocolate brown eyes and pearly white teeth. He was also wearing a white V-neck and had salmon colored skinny jeans. His shoes were... Interesting. His left foot was a red hightop and his right was a black hightop.
'Weird. Very weird.'
"What are you doing with the new girl?" He asked. Something was familiar about the boy.
'Who are you... Oh. Oh no. No. No, no. Crap.'
"This n-new gi-irl has a name, C-C.J." She muttered, looking down.
"does she now? And what would that be?" He asked, leaning down to her eye level. He was about three inches taller than her.
"Y-you must n-not h-have a very g-good me-memory. I-I was i-introduced only a c-couple days a-ago."
"Ha. Ha."
"In a-any c-case, my n-name is Zoey. Z-zoey Strang-ge C-child."
"Cool,"
And with that, his attention was turned back to David.
"So, dude, what are doing with her?" He asked, jabbing his thumb at her.
"Oh! She's gonna tell me all about my magic and hers and-"
"N-no!" Zoey cried. She hadn't been paying attention.
"Oops. Sorry, Zoe. Guess he's gonna have to come with us. By the way, don't tell anyone." Davis smiled at C.J.
Zoey sighed and began walking again, leading them to her home.

"I'm home!" Zoey yelled, pushing the door open and stepping in. She kicked off her shoes and set them on the shoe rack, plopping her bag next to it.
The boys followed suit, mimicking her actions.
Two blonde heads popped out of the kitchen, and soon, almost identical bodies came after.
"Hello, dear. Who are these...?" To the human ear, Kathey was asking who her niece's friends were. To the Magic Worker, she was asking if they knew about them, if they were one and if they were a threat. A little code for the Magic Workers, if you will.
"The Fire Worker, David and The Jerk, C.J."
All three girls giggled.
"Welcome to our home boys," Maria started. "And we're assuming you know about our kind?" Kathey finished.
"Thank you. And yes, we do." David answered.
"Perfect. Well, me and Kathey need to go to the market," Maria said, looking at her sister. "And, please, don't wreck anything."
The statement was more directed at Zoey than it was the other two. She had a tendency to break things with her clumsiness.
All three of the teens nodded.
Zoey lead the boys up to her level of the house, telling them to go sit down on the couch.
She stood in front of them with her arms crossed.
"Alright. First things first; are either one of you scared of the dark?" She asked, her stutter gone.
"No," They answered in unison.
"Perfect."
The lights flickered off and her disco ball stopped spinning and then seized to permit light.
The curtains closed and blackouts appeared out of nowhere and went over the windows. The room was pitch dark.
In the darkness, a small gray flame flickered into life on Zoey's palm. It illuminated her face. Zoey's light green eyes shone with energy as she moved to the side. She threw the flame into the air. It spread out until it looked a bit like a screen. She threw her arms in the air and more flames appeared on her palm.
Zoey extended her hand towards David. "Take it," She whispered.
