I woke up, the sound of the dumb alarm startling me. "Shut up," I muttered, turning off the clock. I threw the covers off, and walked over to the closet, shaking off all the hair in front of my face.

(Time skip haha)

I ran downstairs, trying not to make loud sounds since Sebastian is still sleeping. I looked over to the kitchen to seeing Lin happily cooking away, humming a song.

"Morning," I said, walking over to the glass table.

"Mornin' Mace," Lin said, not turning around from cooking.

Mace? I never knew he called me that. Or does he?

"Morning," I said, almost choking out the word "dad". It feels too awkward saying dad.

"Are you okay with pancakes?" he said, putting something on a plate.

Why the heck are pancakes flat though?

Lin carried the plates over to me and brushed off his apron. Still a typical pink.

"Alright little one, I'll be upstairs," Lin said, heading for the stairs.

"Okay," I said, watching him go up.

I picked up the fork and started to cut the pieces in fractions like my teacher taught me in math. She says it's review for everyone in the class, but it's almost like learning how to walk.

Lin came back downstairs as I chewed on a piece of pancake.

"Oh, by the way." Lin said, walk towards the kitchen, "you are being picked up by one of your friend's parents for today. I have to meet up with someone."

I stopped chewing.

"Who is it?" I asked, finally swallowing. I slightly held my breath.

"Daniel's mom," Lin said, taking a cup out of a cabinet. "Are you fine with that?"

I felt a tiny wave of excitement. "Okay-um, I'm totally fine with that."

"Okay," Lin said, chuckling a bit. "Just be nice to her, okay?"

"Okay."

"Alright, be safe," Lin said to me as I pulled my backpack out of the car.

"Kay, bye!" I said, hurling it over my shoulder and shutting the door. I watched the car go by and I started walking. Then I bumped into someone.

Shoot.

"Um- I am so sorry!" I exclaimed, not getting a good look at the person's face.

No response.

Then I noticed it was Kaylee.

"Hi- uh, I-" Kaylee stuttered nervously. I never seen her so nervous before.

"Is there anything you need?" I said, wanting to just disappear in the crowd and get to class.

Kaylee looked down at her shoes.

"I'm sorry of what happened," Kaylee said.

I widened my eyes a bit.
