After the drama with Carter I went into the girls' bathroom and threw up almost everything I had managed to keep down for that whole week. Trust me when I say that I had no idea that I was heading into that direction. I had felt no signs that would have told me that I'd be taste testing for Regurgitation's Finest. But, the moment that I did feel it, I practically had gone into a full sprint for the bathroom, and dove for the first open stall I could see. I have to say, It got really bad, especially for just handling stress. I had never gone to extremes over anxiety before. But, I couldn't think of where my anxieties were, I knew I was going to start throwing up my lungs if I didn't get help. So, I called mom from my cell phone and before I could say anything... she called a freaking ambulance. Well, long story short, we'll just say that on that day, I was more famous than Taylor Swift.
I was taken from the bathroom floor, put onto a gurney, and then placed into an ambulance. There was no sense of privacy for even a second... The whole school was watching, even while some teachers attempted to interrupt the attention. It was horrible. And, to make matters worse, in following to that most dramatic episode, I spent a full six days in the hospital. So, after becoming one of the most popular things on social media since the screaming goat, I got to add to my fame by being the mystery disappearance, and an epic subject for rumored stories that suggest I died or something.
When I finally got to return to my home, then back to school, I was late to class again. Only this time, I'm full of those post-hospital drugs that are meant to stop my gag reflex from being awful, yet I still felt like I was about to vomit as I stepped back into my second period classroom. It didn't take much for me to remind myself that I hadn't been in that room since my hand connected with Carter Mendoza's face. Which made my cheeks heat up as I knew that both... He would be in the class and everyone else would be staring with that double take glance they always do. Obviously, they would be curious after experiencing the work of an ambulance up so close, for the first time in their lives, probably.
Nevertheless, it was not my first time coming back from something like that happening to me, it's practically been going on every few months since I was really young, so what may have been considered freaky to others was just another bad day for me. So, despite the eyes that I knew were following my every step, I had given up my late slip, and headed back to my regular desk as if there was nobody around me. This became easy when I looked up to see the genuine excitement in Mindy's eyes as she hugged me from the side, and softly swore in my ear that she'd murder me for leaving her alone at school. Tristen and I hugged as well, but it was after class ended that day. Tristan has always been more private about stuff, he never appreciated an audience, so him waiting until everyone else filed out of the room to hug me was nothing out of the usual.
At lunch that same day, Tristen, Mindy and I sat at our usual spot, just outside the quad, and all of its dramas. We did not sit at a table bench like the rest of the school would do, we actually sat on the cement planter for one of the many trees that dwell within the outside area of the school. I had just come back from being absent for almost two weeks and so we made a point in returning to normal by reconnecting with our group of people immediately. And, we spent the 30 minutes of our free time in an intense battle between Tristan and myself... Or in other words, all of us were hanging out, but Tris and I were playing a chess game from our phones. We started the game with my first move.
Pawn to H-3.
