It was that day again. the one where you wake up early in the morning and put on a brave face and speak to yourself in the mirror to be strong.
But nowadays, seems like every day was like that. nevertheless, i got out of the bed and walked to my bathroom. brushing my teeth, i looked in the mirror and tried my fake smile. The bright side of all the shebang was, that i had a perfect fake smile to put on infront of the people. no one would suspect a thing.. no one would be able to break my carefully created walls.
I got out of the shower with 15 minutes to spare before i actually had to get in my car and leave for school. I applied a layer of mascara and an intimidating nude lip. bless the lord for good skin. Standing infront of my wardrobe, i picked out a grey tanktop and my trusty pair of black ripped jeans. you know the one pair of jeans that you feel at home in.
If Meg would have been here, she'd most probably make me change into something a little less dull and dead. The irony isnt lost on this whole situation.
I slipped on my black converse and left my hair in its natural waves and took my black jacket.Walking down the stairs, i usually avoid the whole kitchen, parents zone, but somehow my mother sensed me sneaking about the living room.
"tiptoeing to avoid your parents is not always gonna work honey." she said holding a cup of coffee. she was dressed in her usual workwear, a pant suit and her hair in some sort of hairdo.
"sorry mom, really late. I'll see you later??" i walked up to her and took the mug of coffee and drank down the scalding hot liquid while she ruffled my hair. "sweetheart, you have been so strong through this whole thing, and we appreciate that so much. But sweety, yuo havnt spoken to anyone about it. are you sure you are ok?" Well, its time to practice my performance,"yes mom," i said with a smile. "I'm fine." she shrugged and i handed her the mug and walked out the main door.
Getting in my silver civic, i shut the doors and took a couple deep breaths. started the radio and drove off towards school. So far, i was that lonely kid in school that cheerleaders and overly happy guys avoided. i was pretty intimidating with my ear piercings and black jacket. People usually steered clear of me and i loved it.
Lakers High. Our school was one of those where there was nothing too exciting and we didnot have any steriotypical bitches.
And i was glad for that.i parked in the adjoining paking lot and got out of my car. taking my bag and phone and trusty earphones, i shut the door and looked around the parking lot for Beth's black mini cooper. I swear i would never understand why she would drive that piece of crap around.
but this girl loved to surprise me and she came cruzing in her doll she called, buggy for some reason. She came and almost drove right over my leg. she probably yelled a sorry from inside, but i couldnt hear it due to the tinted glass.
Beth was a cool chick, but she was clumsy as fuck. she tripped and fell alot, but somehow always managed to get that cute vibe going for her. whereas i gave off more of an uncaring bitch vibe. she stumbled out and slammed the door to her min ishut."hey there stranger." she walked around her car towards mine. "Hello to you too. you're in a good mood. whats the scene?"
Beth flicked her short blonde hair and gave me her cocky look," I'm an occasion sweetheart. now lets go in before i manage to trip an sprain my leg on the first day of school. Again.
I shook my head with a silent chuckle and looped my hand with hers and pulled her along. Walking to our lockers that were beside each other, i put in the code and it popped open. taking my books out i ignored all the people giving me sympathetic looks.
out of habbit, i looked towards Megans old locker that was a couple doors down from me. expecting to see it free. it had just been six months, my parents couldnt even find a replacement use of her room. and this was just her locker.
But apparently the principle had other plans. I saw a guy opening her old locker and shoving his books in with a scowl on his face. He looked up and held my gaze with his piercing green eyes, but i looked away towards Beth and realized that she was staring at him as well. "I'snt that Megs locker?' she mouthed to me and i silently nodded. He slammed his locker shut which brought my attention back to him, and for some reason, i felt like showing him my finger.
And i did exactly that.
He narrowed his eyes at me and was just about to make his way over to me, when the bell rang, signalling the start of first period.
Without looking at him again, i turned my back to him and walked away. how dare he slam the locker. as if he owns the flipping school!
I took long strides and Beth caught up with me, "Wasnt he hot!?! oh my god finally a new face. damn his eyes tho...." i tuned out the rest of her rambling and walked on with the set of blue green eyes stuck in my head. Jerk.
