The party ended with Matt almost being forced to kiss that random girl. "Well, I'll see you soon." I waved goodbye at Matt. He waved back as I walked back into my house. "I told you that you'd have a good time!" My mum smiled at me. I charged up the stairs and texted my best friend, Holly.
R-"Hey, I'm home."
H- "where have you been?"
R- "that party thing that the new neighbours invited me and my mum to."
H- "oh yeah! Did you meet anyone?"
R- "yeah! This boy named Matt. He's got the same music taste as me and we got along pretty well."
H- "is Robin getting a crush??"
R- "hey!! Anyway I gotta go to bed now. See you at school tomorrow!"
H- "goodnight xx"
I went to bed thinking about Matt, when I realised it was midnight. I couldn't sleep. I just kept thinking about him."GET UP, ROBIN." My mum shouted into my room. I wiped the sleep off my eyes and looked at my clock. Holy shit it's 7:50am. I'm going to be late at this rate. I quickly got dressed, ate breakfast and jumped into my mums car. On my way, I saw Matt walking down the sidewalk. He looked extremely down-hearted and melancholy. He made eye contact with me and gave a small smile and a short wave. I waved back and smiled.
{AFTER SCHOOL}
I was walking home with Holly in the dark because it was winter time and it got later earlier. Once Holly got home, I had to walk down a really long road to get to my house. It was dark and kinda spooky until suddenly I bumped into someone and screamed at the top of my lungs. "Woah, calm down. It's only me." The person pulled down their hood. It was Matt. "Don't scare me like that." I was clutching my bag really tight "what are you doing anyway?"
Matt rolled his eyes and looked down "why is it any of your business?"
I glared at him "hey, I'm just asking." Then muttered under my breath "don't have to be so rude!"
Matt looked back at me "I told you I was in a band didn't I? A band has to practice once in a while."
"I'm going to be late, nice talking to you?"
Matt rolled his eyes again and skated off on his skateboard. I marched down the pavement, slightly pissed off. "What an ignorant son of a.." I bumped into a lamppost. I flung my arms and screamed "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME?""Honey, you're late. What's up?" My mum greeted me as I got into the door. I glared at her "I'm angry. That boy who lives next door, yeah he's so rude." I marched back upstairs and bellyflopped onto my bed and opened my laptop. "SCHOOL DANCE IN TWO WEEKS." Was the headline of Facebook for everyone in my class. Shit. I don't even have a date. Cmon, Robin, you know boys don't you?? At the wrong time, my mum walked in. "Why don't you go with Matt?"
"No way mum, he's so rude and he probably hates me."
"I'm sure he doesn't hate you—"
"DON'T YOU SEE? NO BOY WILL EVER LIKE ME! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE."
My mum sighed and left my room. Maybe I shouldn't have been so harsh on her. After all, she's going through shit right now. Dad died last year of cancer and ever since she's been really depressed and tried to keep this family stable despite the fact she's a single parent. I'm such a horrid human being. I don't want to go to the dance alone without a partner so I guess Matt is my last resort.I texted Matt later that evening "hey, can I ask you something."
He replied "what?"
I took a deep breath and typed "would you want to go to my school dance with me?"
He replied "look, thanks for asking, but I'm not interested in these school dance things."
I rolled my eyes "ok fine, I'm not going to beg because I'm not an obsessive bitch. We should meet up some time. Are you free this weekend?"
He replied "yeah, is Saturday convenient?"
I smiled "yeah it's fine. See you then." I placed my phone down and lay back onto my bed. Maybe I can try and persuade him to come to the dance?
