"Are you sure about this, Emily?" Frustrated with my mother's constant attempts to persuade me, I continued packing my clothes and objects of value into my bag before slinging it over my shoulder.
"Mother. I don't want to spend my life stuck in hospital. I'm 17 now and if I am going to die soon, I at least want to live my life as best I can before I do." I stated, turning around to see my mother on the brink of tears at the mention of my imminent death. "Mother... I'm sorry." With a look of regret and soft eyes, I gently placed my bag down on the hospital bed and walked over to embrace her. Wrapping me in her arms, I held tightly onto my mother and rested my head on her shoulder. However, we didn't stay like that for long. As soon as my father walked in with Mr Ootori, the head of the company that owned the hospital, my mother and I broke apart and I moved back to sit on the edge of my bed.
"Good Afternoon, Mrs Kimura." Mr Ootori gave a curt nod to my mother before turning his stern and emotionless gaze to me. "Miss Kimura. Are you sure about this? While your heart and physical abilities are now stabilised at a healthy level, there is a high chance that if you do leave this hospital, you may be forced to readmit yourself within the year." Understanding the possible consequences of my actions, I returned a nod towards Mr Ootori and stood up from the hospital bed with my bag in hand.
"I'm sure, Sir." With another emotionless nod, Mr Ootori looked beyond his glasses and down to me.
"Very well, Miss Kimura. You are free to dismiss yourself from this hospital whenever you wish." Casting one last glance at me, I watched as Mr Ootori turned around and exited from my hospital room. Once he had disappeared beyond the doorway and the sound of his perfectly polished shoes on the limestone faded, my parents turned to me with a look of concern. Expecting them to, yet again, question me about whether I truly wanted to leave the hospital, I prepared to make the same speech that I had given them a thousand times before. Instead, my father quietly walked over to me and took the heavy bag from my grasp as my mother replaced the position with her hand.
"Let's go, Emily." My mother whispered gently, her soft blue eyes looking down at me with a loving yet troubled gaze. Stunned by their sudden acceptance of my choice, I simply nodded and allowed my mother and father to lead me out of my hospital room and down the hallway to the reception. I was nervous as we continued towards the exit of the hospital and yet, without stumbling, I managed to make it to the glass doors as I stared in disbelief at the world beyond. After being hooked up to a heart monitor and other various machineries, I hadn't seen or visited the outside world in over six months. The last time I had was for my mother's birthday. With the hand that wasn't grasping tightly at my mother's in anticipation, my father and I pushed open the glass door, letting a warm breeze blow in.
For a moment, I was stunned. The warm summer breeze felt most seasonable upon my cheeks and though the sunlight beamed down on me a light that was blinding; I didn't look away. All around my parents and I, people were shuffling in and out of the hospital as cars drove through the parking lot, searching for a place in which to park. Overwhelmed by the beauty of the world that, at least for the past six months, I had only ever seen through a window, I was unable to fully control my body as my parents guided me through the multitude of people to a shining ebony-coloured Mazda 6. Letting go of my hand for a moment, my mother opened the back door for me as I eagerly slid onto the velvety seat, feeling the new material graze under my thighs and hands. As I rested back happily into the seat, I sent my mother a delighted smile and watched as she closed over my door before hopping into the car beside my father.
"Ready to go home, Emily?" My father asked, turning the key in the ignition, as I quickly clipped in my seatbelt and smiled cheerily to him.
"Let's go!" I cheered, quickly gazing out the window as my father drove the car out of the parking lot and onto the highway; the hospital disappearing farther and farther into the distance.

Really, it will only be updated if people really like it and comment, or when I feel bored enough to write~ XD Either way, I hope you guys enjoy this prologue (even though it's much shorter than my usual chapters) and be sure to comment below how it is~ ^~^ I really love reading all your comments and it motivates me a lot to keep writing~ ^~^
