I lay on my bed contemplating whether I should actually get up today. I decided I should, considering the fact that I had nothing more to do and I didn't feel like being trapped in my thoughts once more. I pull a pair of jeans that are laying on my bedroom floor onto my legs over my bottoms, not caring about the fact that I've worn them the day before. I'm sure nobody would give a damn anyways.
I took a walk down the hall to my kitchen and opened the cupboards, realizing we had absolutely no food in the house. I sighed and yelled at my mom, "We have nothing to eat here Mother!"
No response.
I sighed louder hoping she would hear it but she said nothing. She was a cool mom and all but she was extremely over protective of me. So was my dad, until he passed away in 2003.
I grabbed my clutch bag and yelled once more, "Mother I'm going out to eat."
Being a 21 year old woman I was positive that I could get out and be on my own.
I walked outside my house groggily, dreading the cold weather. I sent a quick text to my best friend Sadie.
*want to go out to Panera? I need food I'm dying*
I took a few more steps and my phone buzzed.
*Sure thing, meet you there then.*
I nodded to myself and shoved my phone in my back pocket.
I began my route to Panera and I turned around, seeing a car approach me quickly. Not bothering to slow down. I took a step back as they pass, running into a puddle of water and splashing it all over me. They slowed down and I sighed angrily, wiping off my pants. They opened their door standing still halfway inside the car.
It was a guy, blonde and tall. He smirked as he looked at me, up and down. I shot him a glare, "Is this funny to you?"
"Sure is."
"Wow, how rude! Has your mother not taught you anything?" I snickered.
"Obviously not, otherwise I would have apologized." he chuckled.
"How about you get back in your car and go ruin some other girl's clothes."
"Sounds like a plan, I didn't want to stick around here anyway." He gave me a nod with that same annoying smirk on his face that he had when he got out of the damn car. He hopped in, closing the door and sped away, his music still way too loud to bare.
I made my way to Panera where I found Sadie sitting inside. "Why are you all wet?" She laughed.
I sighed, "Some evil douchebag ran into a puddle and splashed it all over me as I was walking here."
"Well that sounds awful."
"It was, now can we eat? I'm so starving I think I might die." I acknowledged my empty stomach.
"Of course." Sadie chuckled.
I walked up to the front and ordered m food, paying and sitting down with the buzzer, waiting with Sadie.
"Oh hey! I got the most awesome idea of what we'll be doing tonight." Sadie gushed.
"Okay, does it involve drugs because if it does count me out." I chuckled.
"Wow, well then I guess you won't be going."
"Sadie! You're kidding me right?" I gasped.
"Of course I am, there is going to be this huge party at this club tonight, the whole town is invited it's all over social media."
"Well why are we going?" I asked.
"Don't be such a downer, you need to get out more and learn to be social." she chuckled.
"I'd rather stab myself in the eye than be 'social.'" I said.
"Well we are going and that's final." Sadie smirked.
We got our food and we finished eating afterwards we walked together with some small talk, mostly me complaining about how my bra is still wet from the awful guy who splashed me with water.
I walked home as Sadie went her separate way, I got inside and my mom was laying on the couch watching tv. "Hey mom, you need to go shopping." I said, sitting down on the chair in the living room. "I know I do, I just haven't gotten around to doing it."
"Well you need to, I'll go with you then but I have a thing to do tonight with Sadie." I said.
"What thing?" she asked, propping herself up on her elbows.
"This party, don't worry it's small." I reassured her.
"Okay, I will wait up for you then."
"Mother! What am I? 5?" I complained.
"No but your my daughter and I want you to be safe."
"Whatever." I said, going into my bedroom and looking at my clothes.
I laid on my bed and looked at the ceiling, I really didn't feel like going to some big party.
I fell asleep and the next thing I knew Sadie was waking my up.
"Maddie! Wake the hell up we're going to be late for the party!"
I sat up and sighed heavily. "I'm sorry! I was tired."
I threw on a dress that I liked, it was somewhat short, going just above my knees and it didn't show off too much. I liked it.
"Let's go, you're so slow." Sadie complained, grabbing my arm and pulling me out the door. I guess that was that, she was taking me to the party and there was no going back.
