I followed Riker the whole way to his apartment. I couldn't just let him keep my phone and I knew he wasn't giving it back.
He unlocked his door and pulled me inside, pushing me quickly back against the door and locking it. "Listen, I know you think I'm going to hurt you but I won't." He spoke fast, his body pressed against me. "Well then what am I even here for." I mumbled, looking up at him. "I'm not exactly what you think I am, Maddie."
"How do you know my name?" I asked, my heart beginning to race faster than before. "That's not important. What matters right now is that I'm misunderstood. Yes, I'm rude and awful but nobody understands why."
"Well then why?" I asked, suddenly somebody began knocking at the door, Riker grabbed my arm and pushed me behind him, I wasn't sure why and he opened it. A girl with long blonde hair stood there, she had ripped jeans and boots on with a jacket. "What are you doing here?" He asked quickly. "Riker, we need to-" she saw me and stopped speaking, "Who is that?"
"This is Maddie, Maddie this is Rydel. Can you leave now I don't have time for your bullshit." Riker tried shouting the door but Rydel stepped inside and pulled Riker's arm to another room. I stood there awkwardly and tried listening.
"She isn't doing well." Rydel whispered.
"Well why do I care?"
"Because Riker! she could die and you don't care one bit?"
"I don't need to care, she doesn't about me so why should I about her?"
"She loves you Riker." The girl mumbled softly. "You should leave Rydel." I heard Riker say, walking out into the room with her behind him. Riker gave me a glare as he practically pushed Rydel out, shutting the door quickly behind him.
He looked at me, my heartbeat began to grow fast.
"Do I make you nervous?" He asked, his eyes growing darker.
I nodded and took my lower lip between my teeth. "Why?" Riker chuckled, taking my phone out of his pocket. He licked over his lower lip, the smirk from before reappearing on his face. I stood awkwardly facing him, "Can you just give me my phone back so I can leave?"
"Who's Ratliff?" He murmured. "My boyfriend." I lied, immediately regretting it as I looked into his eyes. "Your boyfriend, eh? That's cool." Riker chuckled, throwing my phone to the side. "I really don't want to be here." I mumbled under my breathe. I ran over to my phone and grabbed it, shoving it in my pocket. "Okay, can we please make a deal?" Riker mumbled as I began walking to the door. I turned quickly around and looked at him. "What?"
"Be my friend, just at least try to be friends with me? It's better then pretending to hate me because I know you don't."
I scoffed, staring back into his eyes. "You don't know anything about me, I could easily hate you. you're rude and obnoxious and I just don't want to be around you."
"I'm hurt, Maddie..I really am." Riker dramatically grabbed his chest, his voice sarcastic. "Fine, we can be acquaintances but that's it."
"Fine, I'll see you around then?" Riker said.
"Sure, whatever." I looked at him, slightly confused by what had happened, I walked out the door and looked at my phone, sighing as I looked through my contacts. He deleted Ratliff's number. I walked out of the apartment building, my head hurting from him. Riker and I? Friends? yeah right.
