Part 2 of I Wish I wasn't a Moonchild

Valentina's POV

I was in 2nd period listening to Mr.Peer's un-intresting topic on how flatworms digest their food and crap it out. I just sat there, poking at the things on my neck.Suddenly the phone rang, and within five seconds of picking it up, Mr.Peer announced that I needed to pack up my things and go to the office.

Once three teachers asked me for a pass and I made it through the10th graders, I finally ariived at the office. And, as suspected, my mom was sitting in a chair, legs crossed hands laying in her lap.

"Am I going to the doctor's office? More importantly, do I have to get a shot?!"I asked my mom.

"Well, if I know you, then I think you would rather go to the doctor and get a shot than be stuck in this, as you call it, "hellhole". she said, obviously annoyed.

I nodded my head in agreement and busted out the door into freedom.

Bye Bye school!

We finally got to the doctor's office and I saw a child playing with the toys that you seem to find only in doctor's offices. You know, the ones where all you can do is push the beads to different angles and crap? Well, I think they want the kids who are already annoyed enough about having to be at the doctor's to become more annyoed by the fact that you can never get the dang beads off the freakin rings. It's like they try to torture you with those things, because all you can do is twist the beads. I think the companies who make those are out to get us.

Anyway, about ten minutes after we got there, some nurse called the name Roger out and a kid, around three or four, scooted his little butt over to a chair, grabbed on to it, and started to cry. One nurse tryed to get him of and he just held on to the little dignity he had left. Every time the nurse pulled, the screaming got louder and louser. Eventually, she called for back up. Three other nurses walked in and all four nurses began to pull. His screaming got so loud, I though he might bust one of my eardrums and I would fail the hearing test. One nurse walked out and came back with a lollipop, He automatically let go of the chair and followed the lady all the way back to the check-up room.

A little while later, a nurse called my name. I got up and she asked me some really dumb questions. (In the backround, I could hear the little boy,Roger, screaming)One of the dumbest queations was:

"Is your name Valentina?"she said in a baby-talk voice.

"Yes! Good job, smart one! I am so proud of you!"i said sarcasticly.

My mom scowled at me, but the nurse just smiled and lead us to our room.

"The doctor will be here in a minute. Okay?" she said, and this time she was very mad and serious. I guess the remark I made finally made sense to her.

In my head I thought:

Pfft! More like a millenium until he gets here! Might as well snoop through these drawers...

After what seemed like forever, the doctor busted through the door. He asked all the questions that the nurse had asked and I wondered if he even looked at the nurses notes.

"Now, my nurse, Teal, is going to come and examine those swollen glands and take a sample." he said, his voice deep and serious.

"SAMPLE? Like, with a NEEDLE?" I said, all freaked out, but I guess that was obvious.

He nooded seriously and walked out of the room.

Soon enough, the nurse walked in with a stirofoam tray with needles and tubes scattered amongst it.

I grabbed for my moms hand and squeezed it so tight, I could have sworn tears came out of her eyes.

I screamed in pain and screeched like a bird, but apperently the nurse was unaware.

" The results should be here soon, maybe an hour or so. We will call you then, so make sure to pick up the phone."she said, still looking at the gunk she had extracted from my swollen glands.

We hopped in the car, and my mom asked how my day was.

"Oh, mom, school was great!" I said happily.

"Really?" she said all excited like.

"No mom. It sucked. It always sucks."I said.

Mom just kept on driving giving me no response.

"Well, do you want to go back? It's only lunchtime. You will get to see Fran. How about it?"

Just in case you're wondering, Fran is my best friend. She is the best, and I couldn't live without her.

I nooded no, and my mom said,"Please? Val..."

"No! I have already been poked and pricked, and going to school will make it hurt even worse."I said, puppy dog eyes in full gear.

My mom sighed, which meant I had won. I got to pick where to go to luch, and my mom made me rush because she didn't want to miss that phonecall.

Nearly the second we got home, the phone rang.

My mom ran to the phone and answered nervously but franticly.

"Hello?" breathing heavy from running to the phone.

"No,no,no,no....I...I..."mom said, tears beggining to stream from hers eyes. She collapsed on the floor, and her tears were in full gear.

Whats wrong with me?!!
