Chapter Seven

Last nights texts were still fresh in my mind. I didn't want to read much into it, but it felt as if Matt was interested in me. As more than just a friend. Which I wouldn't mind at all. It would actually be great if he did. I don't see a problem with that. But if I was wrong and he is just being nice ... I think I'll better keep my hopes down. I don't want to get hurt over something I made up completely on my own.

I stood outside the hotel, waiting for Matt to arrive. The cold morning air brushed against my skin, the bitter-sweet smell of coffee filled the air. It had only been a few minutes and I was already freezing. I couldn't stand there any longer, I had to warm up, I needed some caffeine. I crossed the street and made my way to little rustic coffee shop and ordered two large coffees, grabbing a handful of sugars and creamers.

I make my way across the street again where Matt was already waiting for me. I try my best not to get ran over by one of the many cars in the bumper-to-bumper traffic. I hand one of the coffees to Matt who was holding the door open for me and get in the car. He closes the door after me and walks around to get back to his sit.

"How can you drink coffee like that?" He had just taken a sip of his drink without adding no sugar or creamer.

He looks at me and smiles "Because I'm a man."

"Whoa. I didn't take you as the sexist type." I joke while opening one of my many sugar packs and pouring it in my tall cup of coffee.

"I just like plain coffee. " he responded in a defensive manner "I know disgusting." He takes his eyes off the road to meet mines for a few seconds. His eyes are so beautiful, just a couple of seconds looking into them are enough to make me want to melt in my sit, melt like a Popsicle on the 4th of July.

"So I heard you and Kat are planning a karaoke night." Matt says, bringing me back to reality, cruel reality.

I smile "Yes, we're calling it the Battle of the Casts."

"you're really naming this thing?" he  snorts never taking his eyes off the road.

"Yes this is serious Daddario. Any important event in time, for instance, World War 1 and 2, D-day, Pearl Harbor, they all have a name or title so people can recognize them for their importance in history."

"So you're saying this silly karaoke night will go down in history and will share the same importance as the bombing of Pearl Harbor?" he questioned, an amazed look on is face.

"Uh-huh. I don't think it's silly at all." I knew he didn't mean to be rude, and I was being totally dramatic comparing a silly karaoke night to such an important, catastrophic event , but he didn't understand what karaoke means to me and Kat. Karaoke nights were how we became friends.

"Well just letting you know,I won't take part in this serious matter." the sarcasm in those last two words was unbelievable. Somehow sarcasm was sexy on him. It was definitely one of his best qualities, well at least in my opinion .

"Okay Mr. Boring-pants. Team Shadowhunters is better off without you anyways. You would just hold them back." My voice sounding a bit more serious than intended.

"You're probably right." he laughs  and places his right hand on my thigh, immediately bringing it back on the wheel before getting any reaction from me. The rest of the car ride was silent.

The rest of the day went by fast. I spent most of the day staring at Matt and daydreaming about kissing him. We were introduced to the rest of the cast and had a table reading. There weren't a lot of lines to memorize which I was glad for since I was having a hard time focusing on the script. Matt and I kept making eye contact making me stutter every time I tried to read my lines.  But the reason for it not having a lot of lines was taking a toll on me already, that first scene was a sex scene.
