They began to head back, but they were diverted by the sudden and unwelcome appearance of Veloci's men. The four teens stiffened at the sight. Upon seeing them, Lizzy curled into a tiny ball and started crying, chanting that she didn't want to go back. Buzz and Fiona quickly went into dino mode to keep their identities secret. The men sneered.

"Well, look here. We came to capture the Dino Squad and we got the boss's most important assets. And, of course, two of the Dino Squad members in the flesh. I must say, I'm quite honored. But you'll all be coming with us," one of them spat, an annoying smirk planted on his face. Artemis scoffed, tossing her head defiantly.

"We might not all agree on much on this team, but there's one thing we'd all agree on in a heartbeat. We'd all rather die than go back to that cage," she announced, her eyes flashing red. Her skin broke out into green scales and her skin contorted and stretched to accommodate with her dino form. She shrieked and roared. The others followed suit, their own skin contorting and twisting. With a low growl, she charged, biting a man in a suit and shaking him like how a dog does with a toy. She relentlessly tossed him to the side. She ran towards the van, hoping to reach and destroy it. There was a loud thunk and a net flew at her. Artemis saw it too late, getting tangled up in it. She shrieked and contorted her body in order to try to free herself. The men walked up to her, about to drag her away.

Lizzy, gathering her fear, shrieked and began to claw at one man's mask. They all backed off. With them temporarily stunned, she had hoped to free Artemis. Another loud boom was heard. Seconds later, they were hauling the tiny Troodon off into the van. Kris, seeing Artemis entangled, rushed to help but was stopped by Artemis.

Not me! She barked, pointing her nose to the Troodon. Help Lizzy first! Kris hesitated, and then resumed to pursue Lizzy. He squawked and hummed at them, making them drop her and run away. He picked her up, attempting to help her. Sam rushed over to help unsnare Artemis, who was still struggling. When he did, she thanked him with her eyes. They heard a loud boom, and turned their heads to their friends.

A net had ensnared Kris, who had protectively wrapped himself around Lizzy. With little resistance, they were lugged away. Artemis' rage heightened as she was helplessly watching them drive away. She gave chase, trying to get them back. It was a fruitless effort, as she ran out of energy and changed shape, collapsing on her knees in the middle of a road. Artemis buried her face in her hands. Sam quickly shifted down to normal size, and rested a hand on her shoulder. He was a bit surprised that Artemis hadn't caught up. He wasn't disappointed though. He looked after the van, watching it until it disappeared behind the horizon.

Walking back to Fiona and Buzz, Artemis' eyes were red. No, not her usual iris red, but a sad and fatigued red. She looked at them in a rage. She pinned Buzz against a tree.

"Why didn't you help them?!" She screamed, her eyes brimming with hatred. He was shocked to see her anger aimed towards him. He looked to Fiona for help. He didn't need it, though; Artemis had collapsed to her knees again, mumbling gibberish to herself. Sam looked enraged as well, although he didn't resort to physical violence. Fiona wouldn't look them in the eyes and just ushered them to the car. They drove back to the lighthouse in silence.

The entire way, Artemis had been mumbling gibberish to herself. In the main room, everyone's faces were grim at the news. None of them would look Artemis nor Sam in the eyes.

"I'm going after them." Artemis said, her face turned downwards. She got up and began to leave but Max stopped her.

"There's no need to be impulsive," he lectured. "We'll find them in the morning." Max promised something that Artemis didn't want promised. She glared at him, her eyes boring into his skull.

"I don't want them found in the morning," she growled. "I want them found now." She shrugged his hand off. She didn't leave, though. Later, they were dropped off at the hotel. Once they had drove off, she began walking towards Veloci's headquarters.

"We just got here," Sam said, following her.

"You already know my plan." She said, not bothering to stop.

He chuckled a little. "Yeah."

"Then," she said, a small smile dancing on her lips, "don't say useless things." Sam smiled in response. Artemis was back to her old self. They walked into the woods right off of the road and changed into dino form, not wanting to be risked being seen. They put their heads together, trying to be as quiet as possible while planning.

What's the plan? Sam whispered. Artemis gave him an angry look, but her rage was not directed at him. Her rage was directed at the man who took their friends.

Go in, kick ass, save those two and anyone else we can find quickly, and get out, she growled lowly in response. Sam nodded.

What are we waiting for? The two dinosaurs turned and began running into the night. in the direction that they felt their friends.

Please be okay, Artemis prayed silently to herself. Wait for us.
