Chapter 2: First day at work

I lose my embrace and then Ana invites me to follow her in the living room. I start my breakfast while she is eating her dried sausage. We are talking while watching the television.

Anna- How is your brother by the way?

Addison- It comes and goes. When we feel an amelioration, he falls in again and it is getting harder to help him.

I sigh and make a fake smile. She is the oly one who knows that I was sure it was all my fault. She put her hand on my leg to makeme look into her eyes.

Anna- Hey Addy, I told you, it is not your fault. Don't think about it, it will eat you from the inside.

She take my hand and smile at me. I smile back at her and get up from the couch. I go to the kitchen and start cleaning my bowl. Talking about my borther and his problems made me loose my appetit. Even if Anna can't feel what I feel, i know, at least, she tries to understand me and that is what makes me happy. She wasn't like the others, insulting me, saying I was crazy, she understands me and know when I am going too far. I go into my room to pickup my gameboy in my bag and play next to her. We stay in the living room, together, in silence, with just the TV's noises. When it was 19pm, I go to the kitchen to make some pasta. I wasn't a head cook but  I know how to cook some pasta. Anna set the table and we sit together and start eating. During lunch, we talk about meaningless things and then Anna cleans the dishes while I tidy the living room.  After tidying the living room, with nothing on the floor and everything on the couch, Anna and me sit on the couch to talk about tomorrow. ( we are sitting where there is some place).

Anna- So tomorrow... It is very simple. The shift starts at 7 am, so we have to be there at 6.30 am. We come earlier so we have time to get change and put some little things at their places. We enter by the main entrance and then, behind the bar, there is a employees' room. You can put your stuff there and change in secluded. Your shift last 7 hours, with a break during 30 minutes. We should be home at 3pm. Your tasks are simple: take the orders, write them down and serve them. And you do all this stuff with a smile of course.

I was listening to her very carefully. Smile? We will see tomorrow how I wake up.

Anna- Tomorrow we'll try to be on time so i can introduce you to all the people with whom you're gonna work with. You'll see, they are awesome. Now go take a shower.

She pushes me away from the sofa and indicates me where the towels are. I go to my room, take a pajama ( yeah if you haven't noticed, I am still in my clothes from yesterday). I go into the bathroom. I take my clothes off and go into the shower.When I am out, I braid my hair to let my hair curl. I put my pajama on and leave the batheroom. In the living room, I find Anna asleep on the sofa. I take a blanket and put it on Anna. She snorts so I decide to let her and go in my room to go to bed too. I turn my alarm on and turn the lights off. I fall asleep immediately. I know that I already slept a lot but I am still so tired.

The tomorrow morning, my alarm rings at 5 am. I turn it off and take like 10 minutes to really wake up. It was too early... It was inhumane to wake up this early. I streched out and start looking for some clothes in my case. A black blouse with a high-waisted jeans... Yeah, it can work. I put this on and go to the kitchen to eat my breakfast with Anna. She greets me but I was too tired to answer her so I just wave.

 I pour some cereals in my bowl and sit next to anna. We eat in silence and when she finished her bowl, she puts it in the sink and goes into the bathroom to take her shower. In my case, I take my time to finish my cereals and then I go into my room to brush my hair. I release them and then I make them into a ponytail. I take my toothbrush and my  toothpaste to brush my teeth in the kitchen since Anna is still in the bathroom. After brushing my teeth, I took my make up to put some on my face. I put some foundation, concealer, powder. I try to do my eye-liner, add some mascara and a pinky lipstick. I put all my stuff in my bagpack and get out of my room why calling Anna to see if she is done. She gets out of her room and she is dressed in a completely different style. She wears a blue dress with white sneakers and a white bag. She has braided her hair.

Addison- Woow, Are you going to work or have a diner with Obama?

She laughs and opens the main door to make me understand that we should leave. We walk together, talking about stuff. When we arrived there, Anna introduces me to the other guys.

Anna- So over there, the portuguese girl with black hair is Carla. She is directing us, so if you do something wrong, she will talk to you but you'll see,she is so nice, mostly at parties. The two girls who look like each otherare twins. There is Victoria, but everyone is calling her Vicky and Courtney. They are shy but so sweet when you know them. And finally in the kitchen, there is Alexandre, or Alec. He is a mysterious guy, doesn't speak to anyone. And here it is the last one, the boss. He can be rude, he wants you to get money or him. Just don't get in trouble with him and everything will be alright.

I introduce myself to everybody and follow Anna to put my stuff in the staff's room. She gives me my apron, I put it on and then get out of the staff's room to help the others. At 7:00 am, we open the resaurant and at first, everything was calm. Around 9:30 am, there was much people and I feel that it will be a long day. Around 11:00am, I am starting to feel my legs shaking and my smile was like frozen on my face. For just a moment, I pay atention to something which is going on outside and I let a glass falling from my plate. I am so embarassed right now, my face is so red and everyone was looking at me. I take a breath and bend down to take the broken glass. Being in a certain position that is showing my butt ( in my jeans of course), the drunk guy who is sitting next to me, laughs and puts his hand on my butt. Me? I was like frozen in this poisition, embarrassed, can't think straight, I was paralyzed. I lift up my head and see Anna far away from me with his and on his muth, she knows. A tear is going down my cheek when all the souvenirs are coming back. I heard myself screaming again " Why me?" More tears were coming and then I felt a hand pushing away the drunk man's hand.
