“Why don’t you introduce yourself to the class?” a fine looking lady asks the adorable kid.

“Hi! I’m Ethan Scott. I am from Chicago. I am ten years old and I like to play soccer, basketball, baseball and… and, yeah! That’s it. I like music too.” Ethan had just shifted to California with his parents. He was never the shy one. His baby blue eyes and adorable cheeks had always made him the centre of focus. New place, new people, a new beginning, for many it may seem like a total threat to their identity. But for Ethan, it was a new chance to outshine others.

The moment little Ethan entered the class; several ‘possible-future Miss America’ turned tomato red. Each and every one of them wanted to be his friend. And one of them was Arianna.

She was never too expressive, never stood for herself. A little confidence lacking girl seemed to have no chance in front of Ethan- that’s what she thought.

On the every first day itself, Ethan seemed like to be the most popular kid in the entire school. It seemed like everyone from his grade was his friend.

But things were obviously different for Arianna.  Hardly anyone knew she was in the same class with others.  She had been in the same school for six year now but still hardly anyone knew her, except for her step-sister, who initially hated her like hell.

It wasn’t her fault, that she was shy or that her step-sister, Lilly hated her. After pampering her for four years of life, Arianna's father, Peter left her and her pregnant mother alone to suffer in the terrible winter.  Her mother lost her baby and she lost her brother. But still that harsh weather didn’t show any mercy on them. During the time of recession, there was nothing her mother could do to feed her only daughter. It was when her grandfather came to know about all this, their situation improved. After seeing her mother ill, crying day and night, a part of Arianna was already damaged for life from which she could never recover.

One day, her mother left her, when she was just six. She couldn’t bear that much pain at such a tender age. The only thing she had that reminded her of her mother was the pendent her mother gave her just before dying. But she wasn’t there when her mother took her last breath; no one thought it would be right to let the poor little girl see her mother dying.  Then one fine day, she saw a woman in her house talking to her extremely old grandfather. Samantha was a kind woman. She was so much full of love but still she was a home wrecker for little Arianna. She took Arianna to stay with her family. But it wasn’t like Arianna had silently agreed on the decision made by her dear grandpa.  Arianna cried, and cried her eyes off, she was obviously too young to understand it was for her own good. Her grandpa no longer could feed her. He was an old man who was on the verge to die.

Ever since that, she was staying with Samantha and Lilly. Peter had never changed; Samantha and Lilly met the same fate that Arianna and her mother did. Peter left them too.

But the world in which Ethan was living was entirely different. It seemed like they were living in a parallel universe. George and Amanda were glad to have a charming and talented son. They had completely devoted their life to give their son the right platform. That was the first reason why they had shifted to California.

Samantha never considered Arianna less than her own daughter. Soon, Arianna realized that too. Lilly was not the bad one either. The thought of sharing her house, room and mother just scared her off. And it didn’t even make any sense to her- picking up an orphan with whom they didn’t even have any connection. But it didn’t take much time for them to get along. Lilly always wanted a younger sister and she got one.

The day Ethan entered that class, Arianna developed a sweet innocent crush on Ethan, just like any other girl but what wasn’t ordinary was that she had it with her for her entire life. Whereas, with Ethan things were never stable. He liked everything new.
