Chapter 7 ~ The End?

A Few Days Later
( Emma's Point Of View )

"Hello, New York!" I watched Henley through the tv screen.

"Thank you for the magic." She exclaimed.

"And thank you for being such an incredible and dedicated audience." Danny praised.

"Unfortunately, like all good things, it must come to an end." Merrit said sadly.

"So we would like to start our show tonight..." Danny started.

"By saying goodbye." Henley finished. The crowd cheered.

"All we wanted was to bring the world to a magic show." She continued.

"And thereby bring a little magic back to the world." Danny continued.

"This has been one hell of a ride for all of us. But it's time for us to disappear." Merrit said.

"Good night, New York." Danny waved.

"And thank you for believing in us." Merrit gave the finishing sentence and they jumped, disappearing into fake money.

Later

"It's locked." We heard making us smirk.

"Weren't you listening?" Jack started.

"Nothing's ever locked." I finished.

"Ah!" Merrit exclaimed.

"Well done, you two! Good work." Henley exclaimed.

"You're big kids now, Jack, Emma." Merrit smiled. After Jack unlocked the gate we started talking.

"What if all this was just leading up to us getting mugged in Central Park at 2:00 a.m.?" I questioned randomly.

"No, I'm telling you, we're right where we need to be." Danny replied. "We just have to find-"

"That?" Jack asked pointing to the Lionel Shrike Tree.

"The Lionel Shrike Tree." Danny looked genuinely amazed.

"And the card encased in glass." Henley finished amazed as well.

"What do we do now?" I asked confused. Jack chuckled and leaned in kissing me. I blushed and looked at him with wide eyes.

"What? What happened to 'I love you Jack'?" He teased making me blush even darker and the other three look at me strangely.

"I hate you Wilder." I groaned in annoyance making the four laugh.

We all put our cards together and then the carousel lit up. And guess who was standing there. The one and only, Dylan Rhoades.

"Oh, my God. I did not see that coming." Merrit exclaimed.

"That's impossible!" I exclaimed in disbelief.

"No way." Was Jack's reaction.

"That was- uh, that was actually pretty good." Danny praised.

"Thank you." Dylan replied.

"When I said, 'Always be the smartest guy in the room',"Danny started.

"We were in agreement." Dylan answered.

"Okay. Right." Danny nodded.

"Henley?"

"I've never seen her speechless." Danny responded.

"I take that as a huge compliment." Dylan smiled.

"Hey, man, I'm so sorry for kicking your ass. Really." Jack apologized.

"Yeah me too!" I added.

"Hey, listen, for the record, I have always been a 100% believer. And the amount of energy I have expended to keep these infidels on point..." Merrit started making Henley laugh.

"Merritt, you're in."

"God bless." He replied with a smile.

"Come." Dylan started. "The real magic is taking five strong solo acts and making them all work together. And that's exactly what you did. So welcome. Welcome to the Eye."

"That was pretty damn poetic shit right there, dude." I grinned. Everyone laughed. Dylan went on the carousel first and then Merrit.

Henley and Danny went next but me and Jack noticed their hands intertwined. Jack held me back before we went on.

"Emma, the past year has been a blast and i couldn't imagine doing any of it without you. I love you. Be my girlfriend?" He asked with a hopeful look in his eyes.

Everything stopped. It felt like it was just the two of us in the world. Like there was nothing else. No one, else. It felt like time had stopped as the words came out of my mouth.
